Description

Marner to Carolina: If we believe the rumors of Gardiner being shopped as a cap dump in year one of his deal, this hinges on the Leafs being able to re-sign Hamilton.

Gauthier to Montreal: Franophone 4th line C / 13th forward

Can Muzzin insulate Liljegren? Is Gardiner still serviceable on the 3rd pair?

Moving Marner shakes up the core while shoring up the D and opening the cap space needed to maintain our forward depth. One of Johnson/Kapenen/Kerfoot can then be moved the following offseason to allow for a Hamilton extension.

The moment Waddell calls Gardiner to ask him to waive his no Canada trade clause, he laughs and then cries as he remembers all the hate he got in Toronto. Now Toronto wants him back?!?!?! He becomes confused and roams the streets as a hobo for the rest if his life unable to put together sensible thoughts from that paradox breaking him mentally. Ironically he is a bum after the trade because that was the common word to describe him.

It is entirely possible that I'm out to lunch, but it doesn't seem that out of line to me.

If Gardiner is no longer considered a cap dump, he could easily be removed.

1 year of Hamilton is worth what? Traditionally a 1st and a prospect? Maybe an extra 2nd rounder?

So I guess the question is what Marner is worth? I'd have to think at least a pair of 1sts.

So if Hamilton = 1st, 2nd, prospect and Marner = 1st, 1st; Dermott and Bracco make up a decent prospect?

EASY pass from Carolina.

Hamilton is going to win the Norris soon and should have won it this year. He's 27 and he's making 5 mil scoring a point per game. I don't care if he's not under contract next year. You're not getting him, his replacement in Gardiner and 13th overall for someone everyone wants to send to the moon. Get lost.
