I think if you move nylander it has to be for a clear upgrade in D. Even then, there are few players I would move him for.

Makar, Hughes, Dahlin were A prospects, Lily is not on that level, not every team is going to have an A prospect. While I do agree letter grades arent the best its easy.

An A is not easy to get thats why they are so valuable



Rakell is worth more than Liljegren. Maybe not to the leafs, but 100% to the Ducks. If I'm the leafs I dont even consider trading Lily. Hes a very good prospect at a position of need

I 100% agree with you saying you would rather Lily Dermott and Nylander over Marino and Rakell. I look at the this way Nylander>Rakell and Lily/Dermott>Marino (Individually Marino is better than both but I would take a potential top 4 pairing of the future over one Dman) It would be very poor asset management, which is something the Leafs cant really afford to keep doing

Not sure where you're getting dermott from, he was never in any trades. The idea of this was Lily+Nylander for Marnio+Rakell. While I like the Leafs side more, it saves cap and gets a better player in a position of need and keeps the RW position still very strong with Marner/Rakell/Kap

And your point? there doesn't need to be Seider, Lundqvist, Byram, Boqvist are probably the closest things to being an A in my eyes

You described an A prospect as "without a doubt top pairing" and said Liljegren was a 2nd pairing guy. Byrams probably the closest for me but all these guys seem a lot closer to top 4 than top 2
