Barzal Offer Sheet

Créé par: Chapee44
Équipe: 2020-21 Sabres de Buffalo
Date de création initiale: 30 juill. 2020
Publié: 31 juill. 2020
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
8th overall - Lucas Raymond (AL, QB, TS, CP, JD, JS, MR)
38th overall - Tyson Foerster
100th overall - Eric Engstrand
Expansion Protection:
Eichel, Barzal, Skinner, Reinhart, Olofsson, Kahun, Mittelstadt
Dahlin, Jokiharju, Juolevi
Ullmark
Likely loss to Seattle: Ristolainen, Pilut or Miller
Resultant cap space next season: 16.555-20.955
Players Signed: 10 forwards with Mittelstadt, 2 defence, 2 goalies with UPL
Plenty of space for:
Dahlin (7 million x 3 years), Jokiharju (4 million x 3 years), Juolevi (2.5 million x 4 years),
Mittelstadt (1 million x 1 year)
Ideally these 4 with Miller, Pilut and 2 of Bryson/Borgen/Samuelsson/Johnson/Laaksonen will leave 7.4 million for 4 more forwards.
Pekar, Asplund, Biro, Foerster, and Engstrand may also be ready to contribute at the NHL level.
Also getting towards an Okposo buyout being more palatable.

Isles match. They can move contracts around to make it fit. Thanks for doing the leg work for us 😂

It would have to beat what the Isles are offering for him to sign it? Otherwise the whole point is moot? Your comment about legwork is irrelevant.

If they don't then we can get whoever at that pricepoint I'd rather let them go. 4th liners don't need to make 1.5. I think Pilut only signed in Russia because he thinks they'll start in October but the Sabres won't play again until like February. The man has bills to pay like everyone else. He's been told there's a top 4 spot for him this season and a new GM so I'd bet he's back.

Why would you pay Juolevi 2.5 x 4 he has been a total bust to this point is his career even if he jumps out and is solid this year he should get no more than a 1 or 2 yr prove it deal

We can’t offer sheet because Botterill traded 2 3rds to get 9 goals out of Jimmy Vesey.

Weird situation. I think harrington said he was in rochester because he just was not good enough to make the team. Which i think is wrong. I think he gives mccabe a run for our 2nd best lhd, its just that our nit wit former gm decided we better sign/acquire ALL of the mediocre d we could carry, which forced pilut to rochester because, well hes the only one that we could stick in rochester. Then when nobody called looking to give us a middle 6 center or rw for one of said mediocre d, pilut stayed put. If he thinks that he is guaranteed a spot in the nhl, maybe he considers it. If he thinks hes gonna ride the bus in the ahl, i wouldnt expect hes coming back. So i guess the real question is how good is he really- is the the shl d of year and ahl all star that totally belongs here, or are there holes in his game that make him more of an ahl player.

The Islanders will match anything that is not 4 firsts do your 3rds would not be needed anyway. The islanders have deep pocket owners that are opening the 2nd most expensive NHL arena in North America next year. They will not let thier 1C just leave without a major compensation. Question is, Do you want to pay Barzal more than Eichel?

He looked good the other night and has been trending up in the minors. I'm assuming he'll be solid next season or else we don't keep him going forward. I was budgeting for him fluorishing. If it's less than it's less. That doesn't hurt lol

I wouldn't so that's why 9.75 million is what I did. That's 4 firsts in compensation and still a quarter million a year less than Eichel.

If Barzal puts pen to paper on that contract from Buffalo, the Isles will have a week to match it with an identical offer. If (when) they do, Barzal comes back to NYI and neither he nor the Sabres can do anything about it. So yes, you did do the Islanders legwork for them haha

I don't see how the Isles aren't talking to him at the same time? You're talking like the Sabres are doing work for the Isles... I assume they're going to be talking to him non-stop to prevent this happening so there's no work hours saved by this playing out? Unless you think they are just gonna inore him all offseason?

There's a lot going on here that should be mentioned.

1. There's no price that the Sabres could reasonably offer that the Isles wouldn't match. You'd need to pay him more than Eichel for them to consider it. Plus, the Sabres have no business throwing out 4 1st round picks for a 2C. And paying a 2C more than Eichel.
2. Pilut is gone for now and not coming back for a 1M contract.
3. Juolevi for Montour and Thompson? I wouldn't be surprised if you could get him for Thompson straight up. Hell, I'm not even sure I'd do that.
4. Johan Larsson is not taking a pay cut like that. And Girgensons is getting released.
5. Cozens on L1? Ambitious.
6. Lucas Raymond ready out of the gate? Most experts think otherwise, while not impossible.
7. Just get rid of Zemgus and pop Noeson in there.
8. Kahun's making more than 2M. Come on now. Even before last season, his likely projection was in the low 3's. This year he's become a better player. He had 6 less points in 32 less games this season.
9. I'm a little disappointed you left Risto on there, but it's not an egregious error.
10. You left 220K in cap space. Not only do the Sabres have around 1.5M in overages (total allowable cap ~80M) but that allows for zero callups. Realistically, Buffalo needs to roll into the season at around 78M to allow for callups.

Better get back to the drawing board.

It's a metaphor. Of course the Islanders are going to have dialogue with Barzal. But my point is if he says to Lou "I just signed this deal with Buffalo" its going to be matched. Especially the one you proposed. Under 10m for 7 years will be a bargain

Buffalo would need to convince Barzal that playing in Buffalo is better than playing in Long Island. You can definitely throw millions at him to make him come, sure, but Buffalo have looked rudderless for a very long time now and don't seem to have any organizational direction. Meanwhile, the Islanders are finally getting somewhere, and he's 100% getting a decent paycheque and is a focal point of the team, whereas in Buffalo he'd be second to Eichel.

Always bothers me when fans pretend they're in the minds of players. As much as Aho loves Carolina, he still signed his OS, to use as leverage against his own team. You don't realistically know why a player will or won't sign one. Or any contract for that matter.

I'm sorry that making speculations on an internet forum bothers you so much. You are correct that we don't know what a player will do as none of us are that player, but we are also free to make assumptions based on how and why offer sheets typically work.

And Aho signed because he would've been fine with playing in Montreal. Why would you sign an offer sheet against a team you like if you a) don't actually want to play for the team that's offering you and b) theres a risk they may not be able to match it?
