but the reason he is traded so often isn't because he's bad- it's actually solely because we can't afford to keep him and make an adjustment on the backend. So if we're retaining 1M, it's not worth it in almost any reasonable scenario

Also Isles can't afford to take on Chiasson's cap

The leafs will have no problem trading johnsson just because people on cap friendly who don’t know hockey say he has no value dosent mean NHL teams think he has no value. Khaira isn’t close to johnsson in value and adding the retention is a joke.

Lol you have no idea what you are talking about. First he is not a cap dump and I would totally keep him on my team if i could fit him in. He is great on PP which Islanders suck at. 2nd hosang minus Chaisson equals 1 million bucks. not to much for an elite PP guy that keeps us having the number 1 PP in the league.

It equals two million as JHS is not on the roster. And again the Islanders cannot afford another guy without ACTUAL cap going the other way. Islanders will be relying on guys like Wahlstrom playing on an ELC. Move on. Chaisson doesn't make sense here
