While the value on Leafs trade is fair, with Freddie and Campbell, I see no reason to aquire Georgiev.

I'm not sure how much Strome is looking for, though I would think it's upwards of 5.5 million, perhaps pushing 6 million. I've seen many variants of the Georgiev trade I made here, so it was an educated guess on my part.

The Andersson trade is one disgruntled prospect for another; if FLA fixed Aleksi Saarela's attitude problem, they might be able to do the same here. Kulikov is a one-year Band-Aid because Miller probably needs a year to develop. Granlund is also a one-year Band-Aid (precedent: Wayne Simmonds).

Oh, whoops! For a moment, I forgot TOR had Campbell. Back to the drawing board.

I revised the Georgiev trade, this time with ANA as the recipient.

Keep going. Anaheim has Anthony Stolarz if Ryan Miller decides to finally retire. The only way I see the Ducks making this deal is at the trade deadline if Stolarz turns out to be the next Michael Hutchinson and management doesn't think either Dostal or Durny is ready. But I think that your trade is bang on in value.

I don't claim to know much about either team involved but my guess is that you'd have to pay to get rid of Brendan Smith.

By the way, the Kings might well relieve you of Marc Staal's hit for that seventh in the Smith trade. Rob Blake has stated that he's looking for a short-term veteran LD to pair with Drew Doughty.

Why?

- I've seen many variants of the Georgiev trade here. A 2nd + a solid prospect for Georgiev + a later pick seems to make sense on paper. Groulx is pretty promising, and NYR lacks good center prospects; all they have is Karl Henriksson.
- NYR can't afford Strome (especially this year), and they'd be very lucky to get a guaranteed 1st for him. Here, Granlund gets a Wayne Simmonds-esque "show me" deal; he would be paid less than Strome and will either get flipped at the deadline or re-sign the following season for a comparable price. Maybe Granlund gets comparable $$ to Strome in 2021-22, but he's an objectively better player; he just was not a good fit in NSH.
- Borgstrom for Andersson is basically disgruntled prospect for disgruntled prospect. Borgstrom's attitude doesn't suck, and he would, at the very least, play in the NYR system. Andersson is not gonna play for NYR ever again; FLA seems like a good fit because they fixed Aleksi Saarela's attitude problem, so they could do it again here.
- If NYR gets value for Smith, it's a win. End of story.

That's good that the value is fair. Still, I don't trust Stolarz; I think Miller is ready to call it a career; and Durny still has a long, long way to go. I suppose this could create problems if Dostal is ready sooner rather than later; if that is the case, which team would benefit most?

As for NSH, they love their depth dmen (Matt Irwin, Yannick Weber, Anthony Bitetto, Korbinian Holzer, Jarred Tinordi, etc.). They'd find a way to get use out of Smith.

Not sure if this is deserving of a response but i'll try and give you one.

1. That framework might "make sense" here. It doesn't in reality. Rangers have already turned down Kapanen ++. So you're looking at something closer Cory Schneider (mid 1st) or Freddy Andersen (late 1st + 2nd) compensation here for Georgiev if the Rangers are going to actually pull the trigger. And why shouldn't they? He's the best U25 goalie in the league by a country mile. We have the numbers: Screen-Shot-2020-07-30-at-10-13-07-AM

The Rangers aren't dumb, they know this. Places like here just haven't caught up. So in terms of what what they'd actually accept. That's your answer.

2. Strome put up a 70 point pace in his 1st year getting consistent top 6 mins, there's no reason to expect any less than a 1st for him.

3. Seems like you're a psychologist here lol. And considering the the strong rumors of Borgstrom going to the KHL because he's disgruntled with the Springfield staff, an uninformed one. Lias for Borgstrom 1 for 1 may work. But as it's structured, it's pretty laughable. Please educate yourself on the Lias situation before commenting from afar, it doesn't make you look good.

4. Don't think I'd call this value at all. Smith is a good player and frankly one of the better zone entry dmen in the entire league. I think you might be confused with Marc Staal. This trade structure might actually work for him. But he also has an NMC to consider.
