So now that the play-ins are done, let’s look back at my predictions:

PIT in 3
EDM in 3
PIT & EDM are clearly the far superior teams, with 2 superstar forwards. CHI or MTL might win a game, but they can’t beat EDM/PIT.
Oof. Pittsburgh was very poorly coached, and the habs were better than I thought. Toews was a beast, and the Oilers were just not good (other than McDavid).

NYR in 5
The Rangers have 3 goalies that I trust more than Carolina’s goalies. And they’re missing Pesce & Hamilton. And the Rangers have Panarin and Zibanejad. This will be the most exciting series to watch, and I see the Rangers coming out on top.
I underestimated the Canes. I won’t be doing that again. Plus the Rangers top players weren’t as dominant as I thought they’d be.
Quoting: Kotkaniemi15
NYI in 4
CBJ in 5
VAN in 4
I’m not sure about NYI vs FLA. I’m picking the Isles because I’ve learned to never bet on the Panthers. The Isles defensive system wins on this one.
CBJ vs TOR will be a close series. Maybe not exciting, because of the way the Jackets play, but it’ll be close. I went with the team with the better D and G to win the series.
MIN may be underrated by some people. While the Wild can do some damage, I can’t see them beating a Canucks team as skilled as this one is. MIN won’t be able to overcome the difference in skill or goaltending.
These are pretty much spot on.
Quoting: Kotkaniemi15
ARI in 5
ARI wins because they have the better goalie. Neither team scores much, so the goaltending will decide this series.
A little more scoring than I thought there would be, but not that far off.

WPG in 5
WPG has the better goalie, and is built for playoff hockey. Meanwhile Gaudreau disappears come playoff time. The Jets’ defense isn’t good, but Hellebyuck and their forward depth can make up for it.
Hellebuyck wasn’t as good as he was in the regular season and the Jets forward depth obviously completely disappeared after Scheifele and Laine left.
So overall 4/8 were accurate. Who knows how the Jets would’ve done if not for the injuries. In the other series I overestimated some star players and underestimated some good teams.
