The time to win with Getzlaf/Perry/Kesler is now... this is a win now team. Adding Karlsson absolutely makes them better.

In Chicago you may have noticed giving up the future in order to win now. 1st round picks and prospects get tossed out the window to win now.

So let me ask you, would a GM give up the future to win now..? Of course they would. Because chances are they won't be there in the future anyways.

You are giving up Lindholm a great 2 way Dman for a rover who can't play D. You also think that a guy who gets 0.5 PPG in the AHL can play on the top line in the NHL. Tanguay is old and slow. You have zero secondary scoring. This team is awful

This team is worse for the future undoubtedly, and still worse even now..
Kerdiles likely isn't ready for a 3rd line role, let alone a first. Tanguay is a waste of a million dollars, Montour could net someone better/cheaper on an ELC than Hansen, and considering Thompson is out until the trade deadline and Wagner is his replacement, that 4th line would barely cut it in the AHL. This team would be lucky to make the playoffs

Consider it this way. Karlsson vs Lindholm as the base of the trade. Obviously Karlsson is the better of the 2, but is that upgrade really worth a young 20 goal scorer from last year, one of the better prospects in the farm, and the next 2 years of 1st round picks?

Lindholm is a fantastic 2-way D and one of the best in advanced stats and I can't argue that he is no doubt better than Karlsson defensively. However stop it with the myth that Karlsson is bad defensively, relative to his team mates, and eye test alone he is excellent defensively, whereas overall of course he's only good not elite defensively, but his legendary offense makes up for it.

Pretty sure Karlsson can play D, maybe watch a few Sens games and you'll see. Karlsson has 385 points in 479 nhl games... 82 points last season to put him 5th in league scoring. Elite is an understatement. This guy is an absolute game changer, no other team has a guy like this on their back end. So yes giving up a solid young D in Lindholm, a decent player in Rackell (You don't know what he will be yet - not elite, maybe 2nd 3rd line role. Stats inflated from playing with Getzlaf/Perry) and 2 1st round picks (likely high first round picks) is absolutely worth giving up.

Also you don't think Kerdiles and his 0.5 PPG in the AHL can play top line minutes? Fair enough but you gotta thionk for a young kid to slide in on line with Getzlaf/Perry it might be a little easier transitioning to the NHL. this is all hypothetical as well. Just something fun I came up with. Maybe he has a great camp and they feel he can slot in, how do you know that it would never happen?

Also Tanguay can still play, and is worth 1 Mill. He's a guy that can slide up and down the lineup. His 35pts in 70 games last season says he can. I'd take a flyer on him for 1 mill as a depth guy.

Good thing this is for fun and imagination. You know what wouldn't be fun... being a flyers fan, LOL!
