So if we break this down. I think a ton of Vancouver and Detroit fans agree on Demko + 2nd round pick to rid of Eriksson. So by adding Baertschi cap you want Vancouver to add Boeser and upgrade that 2 round pick to a first? Cholowski + Nemeth + Bernier don’t hold too much value. The Zetterberg contract is pointless as it’s LTIR.

Listen up good.

LHD are not needed let alone 2.
Bernier a waste of time.
Cap management hardly.

You call it 16m cap space gained I call it a boat load of dumped contracts by the Wings. Simpler to laugh & hang up. Eriksson/1st is a deal that’s out there already.

The Canucks are not even in Cap hell. The team you are looking for is the New York Islanders. The Canucks have $50M coming off the books in the next 2 seasons. That includes Baertschi and Eriksson. And there is no cap crunch this season. Worst case scenario, we let Chris Tanev walk who has become a defensive liability anyways. You are out of your league buddy. And Boeser is not being shopped. Jim Benning said it was all rumours and they have never even talked about trading him.

Resigning Pettersson and Hughes will not cost less than $18 million. Virtanen and Stetcher will need a raise. Markstrom, Toffoli and Tanev will need higher value contracts if you want to resign them, and if you let them all walk, Vancouver won't be a contender.
Vancouver is in cap hell unless it wants to go back into the basement. For this trade to make sense for Detroit take Zetterberg off, he's pointless in this trade and fans like the story of him retiring in Detroit. Add Vancouver's 2021 1st too, and probably one of the prospects that you would HATE to lose. Podkolzin, Hoglander etc. Either that or break the trade up across the 4 teams that will take on cap, likely losing the same assets in the process.

The Canucks will be fine if they just dump Eriksson. No need to pay extra to dump Sutter and Baertschi

Dumping Eriksson will easily cost Vancouver a 1st round pick, Dumping both Sutter and Baertshi will cost them a 2nd and 3rd rounder respectively.

I agree boeser isn't likely..but to say Canucks are NOT in cap hell..youre blind & don't pay attention to reality of your team..maybe start listening to insiders & ppl who collect nhl paychecks..your team is in trouble without trading away multi pieces ..to keep your young core going forward

Please tell me how? If the Canucks do not sign Tanev (who btw is a defensive liability) and one of Stecher/Benn then the Canucks can squeeze in the cap just fine for this season. And next season the Canucks have $25M off the books. And $25M more the season after that. All anchor contracts will be gone. Learn what you are talking about

What are you talking about? First Virtanen is not getting a raise. He still hasn’t hit any of his targets for this season. The max he gets is $1.5M or he is getting traded for a Top 4 D prospect. Virtanen has his family in Vancouver and he isn’t going to demand more than that. Or not until he proves himself first. And Stecher is likely being moved as well if he doesn’t take a slight discount. Both of them are Top 9 F and Top 6 D. They make little to no difference to the Canucks. And are easily replaceable. Also Toffoli and Markstrom can be fit in with extensions and the Canucks will still be under the cap for this season. Again WORST case scenario (if Ferland is not on LTIR) the Canucks lose Tanev and Stecher/Benn. In conclusion, nothing of value. We will not be in the basement. We are one of the youngest and most exciting teams in the league. Pettersson and Hughes will be even better In their D+4 and D+3 contract seasons. Toffoli will get a full 82 games. And Rathbone should rip it up in his rookie season. This is a playoff team. Losing Tanev and Stecher/Benn do not change that.

The comment was with respect to potentially being unable to resign Hughes and Pettersson. I agree the rest (minus maybe Markstrom, as a competent affordable goalie is essential) could be replaced.
