I know for sure some SENS fans would go for it, but I believe Stecher is just Chris WIdeman in a different jersey. Too small to protect the net, not a PP or PK guy and seeing as Ottawa is stuck with Zaitsev for a few more years I don't really feel we need ANOTHER RHD who can't be trusted with more than 15 minutes a night. I'd rather we give that spot to a UFA like Hainsey or prospect like Lassi Thomson. We also went after Artem Zub pretty hard to get him from the KHL so we might as well give him a shot too. We just don't need Stecher, and that means there's no reason for us to take on Beagle.

You'/re going to have to pay more than an untested rookie goalie and an over-the-horizon third to get rid of two years of Eriksson. Take a look at the David Backes trade between Anaheim and Boston. The dump, with retention, a useful B prospect and a first for a quality mid-6 forward. Not sure who on Detroit fits that description, though.
