What Vegas might look like no trades

Description
Going to have to tighten our belts on this one. I can see the appeal of moving Statsny but I just don't know what you do about that center depth. Also keeping Statsny means when you try Glass on the 2nd the lineup still looks solid.

I couldn't justify signing Nosek over Merrill when we have Stephenson and Cousins. Hague, Bischoff and Coughlan are probably better but it's risky running so many young guys that aren't Byram/Hughes

Edit: I've been convinced (didn't take much) that Merrill isn't a must have for the coming seasons but still means the cap will be tight.

Edit2: If there is an AHL player that has a chance but isn't on the roster I believe all of them (players that have a chance) can freely come up and go down. So to save cap I've left them in the AHL so they can be yo-yo'd to the GM's hearts content. Brown hasn't made a roster yet but he could make it out of camp changing nothing on this prediction.

You could probably play Hague and let Merrill walk. Also, you forgot the backup.

I wonder how they are going to deal with the fact they are exempt from expansion draft, I would try to secure some cap room and some second rounders and try to upgrade backup goalie and some depth from teams that don’t want to lose there guys for nothing.

I can't see Merrill being brought back mainly because Hague should be ready for full-time. Not only does he need to start getting some reps, but he comes at almost half the price. Having Hague and Whitecloud along with 5 vets is not having too many young guys in my opinion.

I think we will see many teams carrying more young guys than they were hoping for the next few years. The money has to fit. But if we only have Glass, Hague, and Zach on our roster (I think Dansk will be backup over Ferguson), that's actually not that many young guys at all.

Unfortunately, all rosters are in for a jolt once the injuries kick in. GM's have to think and plan ahead, but plans can get derailed pretty quickly.

I can't see them committing 2.75m to Cousins and Merrill, even if they have Cousins' rights.

Quinney and Brown were good in a pinch this year. They're good options for 13th F. Quinney, Leschyshyn and Cotter can all be call ups without going through waivers too.

I can see them going with 21 players again and using Holden at Forward and Defense.

I see 20/21 Hague being 19/20 Roy. The AHL yo-yo, but that probably saves the cash spending on Merrill.

Dansk could start the season as the backup, but they could switch at the deadline, especially if aNother team is worried who they may lose during the expansion draft.

I think Stephenson is a touch low, but nothing crazy. Like 250k

If they trade Stastny, Marchessault, Smith or Tuch it will be for picks and/or prospects. Save Cap space For the deadline, similar to this season.

(One sneaky suspicion I have is Stastny is dealt, and Haula is re-signed for half of Stastny to be 3C with Tuch and Stephenson)

I will concede that Merrill should walk as I am a bigger fan of bringing up one of the 4 guys sitting in the AHL. I was trying to come at it from the organization and they really like Merrill.

This is a no trade scenario and I don't see them signing a goalie until Seattle draft if they let Lehner walk. We are going to have to live with Dansk or Ferguson or God forbid give Sparks a chance (resigned because AHL money doesn't matter).

I can't see them letting Cousins go after trading for him. They obviously have a reason for wanting him.

I didn't really consider Quinney, Leschyshyn, Cotter or Korczak because I'm not sold on them making an impact. This coming year they can change my mind since as this projection shows there is plenty of room to bring them up and injuries happen.

I agree on the Roy comparison. I will update my description to explain this but if a player doesn't need to be on the roster they are sitting in the AHL. Glass is on the roster because well he needs to be ready.

Dansk seems to be the agreed backup so that was updated. If Lehner doesn't stay they can wait until deadline or draft to get their backup.

I was wondering about Stephenson's value but in this case at least the 250-500k won't break the bank.

Haula coming in might not be terrible but that's a big risk seeing as he reinjured himself last year missing quite a bit of the season. I just don't see it happening now that Gallant is gone and DeBoer has no reason to be sentimental.

Haula isn’t sentimental. I actually think part of the reason he was traded was Gallant didn’t like that 2nd line from year 1. And year 2 he was injured early on. But he was always pegged for 3rd line. Remember before Stone it was supposed to be Pacioretty/Stastny/Tuch on second line. Haula only showed up when Stastny and Tuch were injured. That is before Haula got hurt himself

I think Haula is more of a DeBoer guy then Gallant guy. Plus even if he struggles with health, Stephenson could love to C and Cousins to 3W.

It would be weird for them to go back to Haula since they signed Stastny to be 2C, and have Haula at RW (which never worked out).

Love me some Holla though. He's just not that great in his own end.
