I do all the Nylander trades, so that I say sue me. Any reasonably hockey knowledgeable person can clearly see that with the Leafs cap situation, and considering the cap will be flat next season, only to be raised by a million in 2022-23 (OMG!) something on this roster has to give. Signing bonus structure and cap implications makes trading Matthews, Tavares and Marner virtually impossible if you want fair market value for either (not to mention the fact that none of them will likely be dealt), so the Leafs, who have several major holes to fill this offseason, have some big issues to work out and decisions to make, what are you going to do? Are you trading Kapanen, Johnsson and Kerfoot to make the necessary cap room? That's 3 NHL roster players, or do you sell high on the guy who has good term and a good AAV for a stockpile of assets that may help the Leafs both in the short and long term? Nylander may not be moved this offseason, but he should be.
