Broberg can't be in this deal. RNH is not quite Larkin but they're not Broberg off and If I had to put a prospect of that caliber in, Mantha would come out and I would focus on getting Larkin. for RNH and something. Also AA is not coming back to Det. That ship sailed.

Trying to get a young established (home-town soon to be captain) center from a rebuilding team would cost a premium not a soon to be UFA of a lower caliber with a minor add.

If that was the thought coming out of Det then Edm would simply not consider any deal. RNH is not a joke.

I never once said RNH is a scrub but he isn’t on Larkin’s level value wise especially considering he’s a soon to be UFA. Trading Larkin would be one of the last things Detroit does in the rebuild.

I agree Det is never trading Larkin. That was never my point. Larkin was pitched in this deal and I worked in those confines. Just because a player isn't realistically for trade doesn't mean I'm gonna offer the farm for him. I think RNH is closer than people would expect to Larkin and Det would obviously have a plan to sign him if they made any deal for him. So Broberg doesn't go too.

So why does Detroit make the deal? The get older, slower, and less productive for a minor add? Trades have to be beneficial to both teams. The Oilers if anything should try to Target someone like Fabbri since their top 2 centers are locked up already.

Detroit doesn't make this deal. As I said. But sometimes you work in the parameters you are given. When a deal is so ridiculous it is beyond logic, I'll say so. When a deal can't happen but doesn't make me blow my brains out, I'll at least talk like it's possible for the sake of people wanting to talk deals. This was that case, again as I said. We agree Larkin doesn't get moved. We agree Edm should target someone else. But the post was for Larkin. so it becomes a what if. and IF there was a deal to be had, I don't think it includes Broberg. If you want to discuss a RNH to Det deal without Larkin, post it.

We just differ on the value evaluation of Larkin and RNH. I’d say the trade for Larkin would be RNH + Broberg which leaves AA + 3 for Mantha and that’s atrocious. I don’t see Yzerman realistically giving the necessary assets for RNH. Look what a locked up Stepan received a few years ago because he was a mid 50s point center with 4 years of team control. If I was to swing a trade with EDM it would be on the basis of Broberg for a winger (e.g. Bert or Fabbri ++) or to help Holland out with cap dumps for futures.

That's fine. I think RNH is a top 5 two way center in the league. But as we both said, this deal would never happen anyway.
