Description
Why is everyone trading for Eichel?
Hornqvist/Bjugstad there for salary.

What if you add Poulin to the Eichel deal?

I would not trade Guentzel cuz of the way he fits the team, but Eichel is a better player than him & it’s not even remotely close. Last season, Eichel scored at a point per game & this year was on pace for 43 goals & 94 points. Gotta take into consideration that Jake was playing with sid & Geno, the 2 best centers in the game whereas Eichel doesn’t play with anyone elite. If Eichel was playing on the wing with Sid/Geno, he’d be putting up 50 goals 110 points every season. Not saying Jake is bad, but you’re comparing a franchise player to an elite player. There’s quite a big difference there.

you are getting a whole package though. Jack is 10 mil a year Jake is 6. In a cost perspective what you are getting out of the two, is miles apart.
I also don't buy the whole, Jake is carried argument. There have been many wingers put across from Jake on that line who have not accomplished a damn thing even close to what he has.
I'm not going to argue that Jack isn't a better player. But from a penguins perspective. Trading one 40 goal guy for another 40 goal guy and having to give up extra, and paying 4 million a year more in salary, doesn't really seem like the smartest idea.

Yeah I agree with what you’re saying. I just wanted to point out that as a player, eichel is better.
