Not sure what being a Blues fans has to do with it. The Blues were last year and remain one of the best-constructed teams in the NHL, if not the very best.

The D will be much better once Broberg and Bouchard are on the team, For right now they're just okay. Not sure they're cup worthy good though. You add one of Holtby/Lehner then all of a sudden they become a much better team.

Holtby sucks and Bouchard will be on the team next year. Since New Year's Eve the Oilers were the 6th best team in the league, the roster above is upgraded from that team with the additions of Athanasiou and Ennis. And for $2.6M they should be able to upgrade the backup goalie, too. They have Benning and Puljujarvi to use as trade bait for upgrades as well.

It's not unthinkable that this roster could go quite far in the postseason. They wouldn't be favorites, but it's not unthinkable.

Yeah, with like five games in hand on everyone at the time, so they were far from last in points percentage. They needed time to gel after making so many changes in the offseason, and they definitely needed to ditch Yeo. But none of that changes the fact that their roster blasted through the league from January until the playoffs or that it's the same group that stands top in the West this season.

All I’m saying is, anything could happen.

I was just using your team as an example of a team that no one at the time believed could even make the playoffs much less do anything in them.
