Leafs dont want anything with Vlasic.. maybe CBOing him makes sense but then San José has to pay. Also Dermott+1st+Kapanen+Kerfoot is overpayment for Hertl tbh, but Id take it.. Maybe that 1st rounder should go the other way to make it fair. Vlasics contract is THAT bad..

    Leafs say no

Idk about a 1st for Labanc, so CGY prolly reject

Tampa aren't gonna dump Johnson and Gourde

Carolina aren't dumping a goalie who just put up the best stats of his career

    St Louis aren't dumping Allen.

Overall..... just no. Right idea, wrong players.

In all reality this is a very make belief trade option - but truthfully I'd see a higher retention on Hertl for that package to take Vlasic back - only a thought if a CBO is granted

Dude you need to get off the drugs, If you honestly think the TBL would give up 2 1st round picks to move both Gourde and Johnson for a 2nd+3rd round pick. Besides neither Gourde or Johnson would waive for that joke of a team anyways.

I could see Tampa making that trade if both picks are protected, but if there is a CBO they wouldn't need to.

I could see TML making that trade. However, if I am them I would save every inch of cap space for a truly dominant defenseman. I can't see Carolina trading Reimer for that low, either...

    A. Hertl isn't getting move
    B. This team has enough players on big contracts so there's no need for guys like Gourde/Johnson/Allen/Kerfoot etc.
    C. This team is somehow worst than last year

Even if you removed the 2 firsts I don’t think Tampa bites.
I would love if they did but they won’t.

And to your comment about our joke of a team, we were 2 wins from the cup round last season after Tampa went out in the first round!
This season has had every bad luck issue combined with a huge loss of talent and bad coaching.... but we still have a ton of talent and we will get the depth and a new better coach and California is a highly sought after place to live they will waive their clauses to go to San Jose.

What if we retained 2 mil a year on vlassic and 1.5 on Hertl and you add Johnson to the mix?
Unless you plan on CBO vlassic then we need to add a first instead of the retention.

The point of the trade is to aquire Hertl with retention, I have no interest is aquiring a 1st the goal here is to get Hertl at around the 4 million mark for 2 years - the charge of disposing Vlasic is the retention of 1 - 2 million of Hertls contract for the next 2 seasons - after he's a UFA you've stocked the cupboards and have cap space go ahead and sign him again

Vlassic contract is to big of an albatross to get what you/ we want.
And I don’t hate having Vlasic or his contract.
I hated the way we utilized him and more than that I hated our entire defensive scheme we had in place. We need a better team D system that focuses on players specific strengths, and pairing them with a D mans who’s weaknesses are their partners strengths and visa versa.
This is why Burns paired well with Martin when we had him and Ryan and Simek they all were D first players who shred from the spotlight but shined in a supporting roll.
