Next Season and the Hawks draft

Description
No CBO and flat cap.... Tough spot to be in, but this is probably the most likely scenario.

Blackhawks Draft inclusive of trades made below.

#9 OA - Cole Perfetti - LW. I think he's going to drop a few spots because of his skating ability. His hockey IQ, vision, playmaking are top notch, but he's not the fastest player.
Pick #52 - Martin Chromiak - RW - I think this is a high risk high reward pick. He's on the same like as Shane Wright. How much does that help him??? He's got a good shot regardless and his motor is high. It's worth it IMO.
Pick #55 - Jan Bednar - G - It's no secret that the Hawks need to find their starting goalie for the future. Jan is a 6'4" solid G prospect. He'll need time to develop, but he's one of the better goalie prospects this year.
Pick #71 - Jack Finley - Tall Center Prospect. Needs a few years in Spokane to really develop. He'll likely need to be with speed wingers, but he's tall, strong, and not afraid of going to the hard nose areas for sure.
Pick #78 - Nico Daws - G - Yes, another G. I prefer NOT to take any goalies in the 1st round. If another teams wants to risk that...fine. I do however believe in numbers for G prospects. Nico Daws was in Hawks prospect camp last year. He's been on their radar for a while. I think they'll draft him a bit earlier than projected.

I cant see us drafting two goalies, especially because Gravel is still in limbo. If they decide to sign him, thats another goalie in the system. If they decide not to sign him, realistically how much better is one of these goalies going to be than him? Either way I think they do take Bednar in the second round if hes there

I hear ya on Gravel. He had an outstanding year two years ago. That team was a really good team though. He did start 2 games in the Memorial Cup which is great experience, but last year his .893 sv% and 3.93 GAA (in an albeit high scoring league) wasn't good. I'm not giving up on him, but he'll play atleast one more year with the Moosheads and The Hawks will have decided on Tompkins/Delia/Lankenin. Neither Daws/Bednar are going to start in the next 3-4 years anyway. This is what I would do though. Most starting goalies come from the 2nd/3rd round and teams are just patient with them. Allow them to truly develop. It's what they did with Crow too.

Yeah, I cant see Tompkins having any potential but I think Lankinen and Delia are gonna get an opportunity to prove themselves and theyre both fairly young so hopefully it wont be necessary until that next goalie is ready

Agreed on Tompkins. With Lankinen/Delia...they're both 25 years old. They're not that young. The kids getting drafted are 17 and 19. I get and agree Delia/Lankinen are indeed prospects. I'm just wanting another round of goalie prospects. Pretty soon, we'll know YES or NO on those two. Then the Hawks system is pretty slim AND it's an area of need even with those two.

I absolutely love taking Bednar and Dawes.

I'd take Foerster/Savoie over Chromiak and Edwards over Finlay but those two are solid choices

Those are solid choices for wingers in lieu of Chromiak. I'm not sure Foerster is going to be there, but I'd be ok with those too. As far as Edwards. Are you talking Ethan Edwards? Defenseman? One of the reasons I like Finlay to the Hawks is A.) Can never have too many center prospects. Besides Dach and Barrett they also don't have a ton of TRUE center prospects. Kursshev can definitely play center, but he can also play LW. also B.) I'd like to almost over develop him in Spokane. Have a guy 100% ready to come in and replace whomever decides to leave in the future.

Yeah it's tough cause I like Finlay. But I think Ethan Edward's is such a boom type of prospect. I would probably take a bet on real money that hes an NHLer
