As much as the Canes would hate to give up Faulk, that's too good a package to refuse.

So who would you protect for the Oilers in this scenario? I'd think it would be Draisaitl, Lucic, Eberle, Yakupov (if not also traded by then), the top 4 D, and Talbot.

Oiler's #1 is essentially the overall top pick in the draft, not sure why they would do this.

Funny enough I think all of the big guns on the Oilers are exempt.

With that defense and forward depth, the only way the Oilers finish below 20th in the league is if they lead the league in injuries and every player severely underachieves. No league in history have done that bad, so I doubt the Oilers start.

I'm okay with this as an Oilers fan if its conditional first If oilers finish bottom 5 they keep the first and have to give up the year followings first round pick

I don't know if CAR does this, would be overkill but throwing in Yakupov Reinhart... Hard part is teams don't trade no.1 defenseman on amazing contracts

All depends on the 1st rounder. Anything below 15th is too much to give up. Above that, I could see it happening. The bench mark is made now. Hall got Larsson so RNH and a 1st rounder is very realistic based off that.

Carolina easily says no to this trade. A centerman isn't a need for them, and losing Faulk would create a massive hole in their lineup.

Once again, it depends on the draft pick. That pick may end up being a Tim Liljgren. Then you would have a potential franchise dman and a top notch centerman in exchange for 1 very good dman.

I think that this is a good trade for Carolina. Carolina is already stacked with defense of prospects and they offensive help. RNH would be a good fit with Carolina sends their offense of is not as good as a defense of prospects.

Who are the 9 teams that you think will finish below the Oilers, if the Oilers finish 20th. That's still a big jump.

A healthy McDavid last year porbably would of won Edm 5-6 more games. Enough for them to land in 10th. A full year of McDavid with some experience now, I'm confident 20th is not a stretch. Adding Lucic and Larsson helps as well. Maybe not playoff team quite yet but bubble team, i think so.
