I think with Mantha one of the kids and a high pick has to get involved, especially with Detroit lacking talent one of their top 2 players isnt gonna be cheap.

FWIW Montreal doesn't have a single enticing piece outside of Cole Caufield that would interest Yzerman to deal Mantha. And realistically Mantha for Caufield would be a no go and rightfully so from Bergevins standpoint.

Montreal just doesn't have the pieces that would entice us to move Mantha though, Montreal and Detroit basically have the same needs #2C and top 4 LD. It was already reported by our Wings insider that Yzerman would want Cole Caufield in any deal for Mantha sniper for sniper. And Bergevin hangs up right then and there. Montreal isn't getting Mantha. So they had better look elsewhere.

Yup especially for what it's going to cost Montreal, No way Yzerman deals Mantha to Montreal without it being painful. Bergevin will pay a high price if he truly wants him. And Yzerman know's that.

It was a reporter in Montreal that said MB would try to use the tactic like he used with Aho. Offer a contract tender to Mantha as he is a RFA and give up picks. Problem is Wings have 40 million in cap space, so unless MB overpays and is willing ng to give up at least two 1st and other picks then Wings have money to match.

These two players cannot be more even so people need to realize that Mantha isn’t Wayne Gretzky. He isn’t even a top right winger around the league.

While I agree Mantha is not Gretzky and nobody says he is the Great One. Where di you see anyone say that?

Now, looking at the stats, Domi has played 105 games, and Mantha could outpace his .89 mpg or he could be injured more and fall below that number. I guess that alot of people see his Mantha is a big body and a power forward how can skate. That is something Domi is not, just can not see Wings trading for Domi when you have Mantha in the fold. Mantha just has what appears to have a higher ceiling and something the Wings do not want to risk.

Lastly he is one of the best players on the Wings lineup and it is harder for Wings to justify the trade then it would be for the Habs.

Why Matha would have a higher ceiling? Why Domi couldn’t higher is 0.88 ppg average? And yes Domi had played 105 more games. When Mantha was not good enough for the Nhl Domi was already playing with the Yotes and having success. The fact is both players production is almost the same. While Mantha is absolutely a better sniper, Domi is by far a better playmaker. Domi in all of is 5 season in the league have been in the top 3 in scoring so have been actually one of the best players on the Yotes and with the Habs. The only difference that these players have is the perception Red wings fan have over him. Because with all the similarities that these player have that the only logical explanation.
And actually Mantha can’t out pace the 105 game that Domi played over him since these game where played before Mantha was playing in the Nhl. Mantha would have to outproduce Domi for the reminder of is career and personality i just don’t think that it happening. Both will continu to gravitate betweem 0.70 to 0.90 point per game.
