Fiala > Rienhart he doesn't play on a line with a guy like Eichel.
Brodin > top 10 protected 1st.
This one is a pretty bad troll.

care to show me examples of defensive minded, low scoring defensemen getting more than a 1st round pick as a pending UFA?

anyone that tries to claim reinharts success is due to eichel simply isnt paying attention

Anywho, Fiala and Reinhart were in the same draft class and reinhart has out peformed him dramatically. Fiala had an amazing 27 point in 20 game stretch last year and outside of that has been nothing special.

Show me a comp for that brodin trade.

fiala needed an insane 27 point in 20 game run to get even 1 50 point season and he was drafted the same day reinhart was. take away that 20 game run, he is a 40 point guy.

Fiala has to get is points on his own. Reinhart has eichel and Ollofsson. Fiala just has staal.
Pageau got a first second and third.
This is nowhere near fair.
I way rather have fiala and brodin then Reinhart and a first

I don’t love Henrique, but i have come around on him
Just wish he has a lesser Cap hit
I also think we are giving up too much in that deal,
but we value Risto WAY differently
*and Henrique is a MUCH better idea than Turris

Idk why Minny would trade Fiala after the season he had,
but i do like the player quite a bit
Probably have to add to that Minny deal

Why Svechnikov for Pilut?
Svech might not even be an NHLer if he’s having so much trouble breaking through with Detroit
And Pilut is definitely an NHL defenseman imo,
has just been part of a numbers game
I really don’t get that trade

Upgrading Hutton was a must, good job

I think the biggest issue i have is not bringing back Larsson & Girgs
The defensive role they play is extremely valuable
And expecting this 4th line to do it would be a bad idea
Mitts shouldn’t be in that role, and neither should Skinner & Cozens, and of course not Jack’s line either
Maybe switch Henrique & Mitts and the new 3rd line could handle it?
But why not just bring back what we already know works WELL together?
Especially if we get a CBO on Okposo
Then Routsalainen can slot in there

OVERALL THOUGH...
you made much needed improvements & didn’t give up our 1st this year to do it
One of the better Cap Friendly’s for us I’ve seen done
Even though I’d do some tweaks here & there,
this is a Home Run

You’re right about Fiala...
But if Minny is gonna trade him now, they’re gonna want value based off this past season. They won’t sell low on him
If u only offer value based off his total career,
I’d think they just say no thanks & keep him

Pageau got 5 mil. Most people are projecting brodin to get way more. I believe he at least has the same amount of value as pageau

Alex Goligoski trade to Dallas got Pittsburgh Matt Niskanen and James Neal in 2011.

Dougie Hamilton trade to Calgary got Boston a 1st round pick, and two 2nd rounders in 2015.

P.K. Subban trade to New Jersey got the Predators Steven Santini (nothing special), Jeremy Davis (middle of the pack prospect, decent at D1 college), and two 2nd round picks. Also keep in mind Subban's albatross $9mil contract.

Jonas Brodin is worth similar value to these guys at the time these trades occurred.

I was just throwing some comparables out there, but personally I'd say Brodin's value is a decent bit above Subban's at the time he was traded to NJ. If he is traded, I think Brodin could get a 1st and a 2nd at least, or like a 1st, 3rd, and 5th.

He's very sound defensively, but not the type to put up a lot of points, so it's kind of hard to gauge his value without watching him play. Just looking at the stats doesn't tell the whole truth.

Sorry I was gone for a bit.
As far as defenseman like Brodin are concerned they have been historically undervalued until all the advanced metrics came along to show how important they are.
I haven't seen a lot of Reinhart, but from what I have seen he doesn't drive a line. Fiala's last 20 he was driving a line.
Fiala started terrible in Minnesota but after Koivu gave him some tough love it lit a fire under him to work harder. He put extra time in with coaches and we saw small spurts at times during the season, but the last 20 games came and he was a changed man. I think this is Fiala's new normal. Finally Rienhart is due a new contract demanding more than 6.5 million per year likely, Wild get Fiala for 3 million for 1 more year which is worth something as well.

Reinhart will get paid but so will brodin. Reinhart is better than fiala so even if brodin is worth more than a 1st, you are still getting the better forward. Reinhart is also RFA, not UFA
