Équipe: 2020-21 Jets de Winnipeg
Date de création initiale: 14 avr. 2020
Publié: 14 avr. 2020
Mode - plafond salarial: Basique
Description
A much-awaited defensive revamp with DeMelo and Hamonic added to the right side. Heinola will play in the AHL early on, with a potential for a callup if he performs more like his start to the year and less like his stint in Finland.

I would imagine Samberg would be in the lineup if Heinola is in the AHL. Harkins as well, he would be in over Gustafsson who should spend next year as 1C with the Moose.

I’m not a fan of signing Hamonic, I think he would just be another Kulikov. Poolman is a good 3rd pairing player,

Winnipeg had the dubious distinction of being one of the worst defenses last year outside of Detroit. Poolman was one of many below-replacement players (-0.44 GSVA) getting big minutes for the Jets' defense, and was mainly saved by Hellebuyck's elite goaltending play. DeMelo and Hamonic would be significant upgrades to complement the emerging and improving Pionk.

I agree that DeMelo should be re-signed as our 1st priority this offseason, but Hamonic I’m not sure. He’s never played more than 74 games in a season, and only has 4 seasons of 70+ games out of the 10 seasons he’s played in the NHL. He’d be playing on the 3rd pairing, very injury prone, and will be 30 by the time next season starts. I don’t see the fit, even if he is from Winnipeg.

And for Poolman, he was playing on the 1st pairing with Morrissey for the first half of the season and yes, he didn’t look that good. But he was a rookie and getting top lines so I’d cut him a little slack. When he was playing on the 3rd pairing after we got DeMelo, he looked pretty good IMO and that was coming off an ankle injury.

I get what you're saying. I'm not someone that knows too much about the Jets. I'm actually a Canes guy that's putting together a little league-wide project about what my personal projected lineups and trades look like around the league, based on the cursory knowledge of what I know about certain rosters.
