      Fox wouldnt have signed in Toronto. Why does this keep needing to be said?
      He wouldnt sign in Calgary, so they traded him to Carolina as a throw in because they knew he only wanted to sign in New York. Then Carolina tried to sign him, but surprise surprise, he only wanted to sign in New York, so they traded him to New York for a pittance.

      If Babcock had been fired after the 2018 playoffs...now that would have made sense. You just can't make players sign contract they don't want to. I've been very critical of Leafs "big three signings" but there is no reason to think the players would have signed the contracts you suggest.
      Fox was going to be a UFA..he wasn't signing with the Leafs.
      Ceci was for one year for part of the Zaitsev trade. Ceci was signed a RFA, meaning Ottawa had qualified him before July 1st.
