Sergachev Offersheet

Description
Assumption:
- Flat Salary Cap

1. The Offersheet
- TB can trade Killorn to free up cap space, he is the only option as the other players have NTC or just don't make sense. Replacing him, and 5 other players with $700k contracts gives TB a roster of 19 and ~$6.2M left to sign Sergcahev. This doesn't even account for Cirelli or Cernak.

2. The Trade
- If the offersheet is successful, Mete is expendable. Habs trade him for a reliable goaltender, who is a local.

3. The Signings
- Went with the Athletic's projection of Domi's contract. It is reasonable, outside of one 72 pts season Domi has had some tough years. Domi will be a UFA at 28 years old, it's good deal for him and the habs don't have to commit to a player who might not be a fit once the younger guys develop.
- Kovalchuk should absolutely be brought back. His size and skill was a perfect fit for MTL, on a one year deal there is no risk.
- Romanov and teammate Marchenko join the habs. This contract is most definitely fair for Marchenko who would have to prove himself in the NHL again... he is no KHL superstar. Marchenko signing improves MTL's depth by keeping Fluery in Laval.

Laval Lineup:
Hudon - Kotkaniemi - Ylonen
Veilleux - Poehling - Belzile
Vejdemo - Hillis - Harvey-Pinard (AHL contract)
Teasdale - Dauphin - Alain
Blandisi / Lucchini probably mixed in don't know them well enough.

Ouellet - Fluery
Alzner - Juulsen
Olofsson - Brook
Leskinen

I love KK, I bought the Laval's AHL package to watch him when he got sent down. He belongs there right now, playing huge minutes, playing all situations and working on his own game.

If there is an injury to Domi, Danault, or Suzuki then we have the depth in the organization to replace them by calling KK up. It's best for the team right now. The following year I would expect KK to be a top 6 C for MTL.

KK needs to dominate the AHL first, then he'll be back up.

Love the team. The only thing I think would be different is that Kovalchuk might have a lower cap-hit but with a larger amount of bonuses. However, contracts might be laid out differently next season, and in that case it looks good.

I LOVE that you added Marchenko! A lot of fans forget that the Habs are talking to him as well (and Okulov). smile

Where do you think Okulov could slot in with the habs? Do they trade lehkonen to make room?

Maybe, but I do not think they will resign Dale Weise and they may even waive Weal. Okulov could start as a winger, right? I would probably shift the players that you have around a little in the lineup (that's just me): Maybe have Okulov as a wing on the third line (and shifting Byron to the 4th with Lehky and Evans?

Possible, okulov isn't a know player in the NHL yet. Byron played great after returning from injury and the team is committed to him for a couple years, I'd be giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Weal is fine as 13th or 14th forward, better than taking up icetime from our young guys in Laval.

I hope weise is back played good in MTL when called up. This is what Domi had to say about Weise:
"One of the best teammates out there. Does it all. Huge part of our team. Both on and off the ice! There isn’t a more positive guy out there. He makes it fun coming to the rink everyday and truly cares about every single guy. Special dude. Great player to. We’re lucky to have him!"
