I can't see SEA taking Byron unless you're giving them something to do it

So if he is underrated! He will likely make more money? Danault will likely sign a similar deal then JG Pageau. 5 millions for a 50 point centerman who excel defensively is not exaggerate or overpay.

Cap is more then likely staying put at the current $81.5 million mark for next season, Taylor Hall gets at least 7 x 10 and Alex Pietrangelo 7 x 9.5. Seriously doubt that Cole Caufield will be on the Habs next season. More then likely he plays another season in Wisconsin.

You’re saying that like Byron have no values. Last 3 year is been averaging around 20+ goal and around 40 point. This years he have been injured but was playing great in is return before the Covid-19 ended the season. He got pure speed, is one of the best penalty killer in the league and he is on a very reasonable contract. So it could be possible that Seattle have interest in him. Depending on other players team will let exposed.

I think the 5-5.5m range is good value for him.

No, I'm saying that likely MTL will have more valuable pieces unprotected. In this scenario lets say MTL protects (7-3-1)
Hall, Domi, Drouin, Gally, Kotkanemi, Lehko, Danault
Pietro, Hjalmarsson/Weber/Juulsen
either goalie protected

Byron, Mete, Kulak, Armia, Chairot, one of Weber/Juulsen/Hjalmarsson

I can't see them taking Byron out of those unless they get another asset for doing so, there are going to be a lot of guys like Byron available, why take him when they can add a good young Dman or a better forward in Armia

Actually Byron have been better then Armia in is time around the league. Hjalmarsson wouldn’t need to be protect since he would be sign in 2022 free agency market. But i get what you are saying, but the fact that depending on seattle need and other selection, a guy like Byron could make sense for them. The contract length, the amount makes him a good candidate and they could use him as a trade bait on.

No, he's underrated here on CapFriendly. All GMs know how good he is and regardless is he's underrated or not, he's not signing to that. The cap will go up two years from now. Pageau signed that after having only one good year and Danault is coming off of two good years. He's also way better according to advanced stats so I'm not really sure what you're on about tears of joy

Ok so we are on the same page here. Just a little missunderstanding. Danault will likely take a discount to stay in Montreal and i bet that Bergevin won’t wait next offseason to sign him up to a extension. He is one of the fan favorite in Montreal. But yeah he is underrated and will get a raise from is current salary that is a sure thing.
