I’m torn on this one. Just because I feel so uncertain where the kings will be at next year. If that first ends up being a top 3 pick I’d be bummed but if it was 10 -20 I’d be much more ok with that.

This team is not as awful as it was this year. Not competitive, but their chances to win the lottery is low. I would say that anything less than a top 3 pick makes this worthwhile.

Sergachev is worth nowhere close to that price, He'll probably get the McAvoy deal 3 x 4.9M Tampa has options probably use their buyout on Gourde and look to move Killorn since he's the only one that has a Mod-NTC. Any ways Tampa most likely matches that.

What Tampa ultimately gives him (because in real life I don't see anyone presenting an offer sheet to him) and what he's worth to Los Angeles are two entirely different and utterly unrelated things. Alec Martinez wasn't worth what he was getting paid, but he scored two Stanley-Cup-series-winning goals in one playoff year, which is priceless. Sidney Crosby isn't worth what he's getting paid, either. One of my friends got paid 12 million dollars for doing the voice-over for a cartoon fish. Value is an ideal, and a paycheck is reality. In hockey as in life, the two don't always coincide.

Trading their 1st round pick would be the last thing the Kings would do, even if they win the 1st overall pick and draft Lafreniere

If the Kings draft 10th next year (2021), they'd exchange that pick for Sergachev in a heartbeat. That probably applies to 6th through 9th, too. And I'd rather have the sure thing of Sergachev for the "maybe" of Jamie Drysdale this year, too.

He's overrated. Also he's a bust in NHL 20 Franchise Mode so I'll take my chances with Sergachev.

Kings went 8-1-1 ever since Vilardi's call up. Add guys like Turcotte, JAD, and Bjornfot and we will be a semi competitive team next year. The 2020 draft is the closest we will get to a lottery pick in this "rebuild" so I'd say it is 100% worth it to offer sheet Sergachev an offer he can't refuse and one Tampa can't match. 7M is perfect and I truly believe he will live up to the money.

The last 2 seasons are the worst we'll see from now on.

Yes, the point was to hit not only a figure Tampa would have trouble matching but also make them an offer they couldn't refuse.

I really think getting a first and third painlessly for Tampa would be really tempting to them.

Sorry, I have to recuse myself. I don't think I can be objective about De Angelo; I can't rise above what I've heard about his politics. I've been extremely careful not to comment about anything involving De Angelo on any post or team construction.
