Description
Ran Tankathon and Ottawa almost always ended up with the 4th and 5th picks (Selected Jamie Drysdale and Alexander Holtz). Selected Hendrix Lapierre with Islanders pick. With Seattle expansion in mind, I did the Philly-Ottawa deal (Ottawa doesn't have an aggressive defensive prospect in the system like Myers). Thought Columbus would like the potential of Logan Brown at center (Brown has been passed by Norris plus Anderson is more of a DJ Smith type player). And the Arizona deal was a cap dump for them and a way for Ottawa to get above cap floor.

Why the hell would Philadelphia do that?

Taking Lappiere in the first round is likely a mistake. There better players, none of whom have his horrible concussion histories.

Concussion problems only get worse as your career goes on, and he's had like 3-4 in the last couple of years. Way too high risk to blow a 1st on.

Also I doubt Philly does that, and no chance am I trading Logan Brown for josh Anderson. He was terrible this year before he got hurt. Hell, Logan Brown even had more points than him, in fewer games too.

There's a scenario where trading Brown makes sense, but it would have to be for a legitimate partner for Chabot. Trading him for a depth winger is terrible asset management

All good points. Here was my reasoning:
The reason for taking Lapierre is he's a top 10 talent that has dropped due to concussions. I know its a risk but with 3 first rounders and many 2nd rounders thought it might be worth it. But what you say does make sense.
The Philly one is more of an pre-expansion trade. Not knowing whether they'll go 7-3-1 or straight 8, I felt that Myers may be the odd man out. So it was more of get something than lose him for nothing. Balcers could be an excellent middle six winger but maybe a pick would be more enticing for Philly.
The Brown for Anderson is more trading potential for NHL readiness. Brown could be an outstanding 2nd line center (and he probably will) but I feel Anderson will fit better in Ottawa's system. I believe Anderson had a down year and will come back aggressive next year. And after watching him in the playoffs last year...like what i saw. Also, Melnyk could save some money by reusing Craig Anderson's old jersey and getting Josh to use the number 41...money saved!!!
Anyway, these were the reasons but appreciate the feedback. Back to the old drawing board as they say LOL.

I font think Ottawa’s would do Anderson got brown straight up, but Columbus would. The problem you’re going to run into with that trade is the fact that Ottawa fans don’t see the idea of how bad it can be to just have a full team of guys under 25. It’ll create locker room issues, look at how bad Edmonton was until they added McDavid, but they also added Russel and Lucic that summer, vets to help the younger player turn into pros.

Not saying Anderson is the right choice, but maybe and I hate to offer it a Anderson and Jenner for brown trade. Jenner is a huge locker room guy, plus he can help the younger players.
