I think the next stretch of games is Dermott's opportunity to show he belongs on the Leafs. With Rielly, Muzzin and Sandin all signed for next year, he needs to prove he's worth keeping around (and would move to his offside). He either needs to prove he's more important to keep then either Sandy or Lily, or can handle first pairing minutes. If he doesn't, he's probably trade bait.

For what it's worth, almost nothing he's done has shown he can handle that duty so far this season. I am betting he is wearing another uniform next year.

For what it's worth, I think TOR's playoff place is pretty much secured. Their only real challenger, FLA, got worse during the deadline...they failed to acquire a D-man and they also lost Trocheck.

Unless Leafs starts sucking majorly, I think there's no team that would drop them for the 3rd place in the Atlantic. Even if there were 7 teams in the Metropolitan with more points, they'd still get to the playoffs due to being in TOP3 of their division.

Granted that would mean facing either TB or BOS in the first round, which can turn out into a major blowout...

true but now we are down our 2 top dman and 1 that chews up minutes, they should be back come playoffs, i think Florida could jump over them with all the injuries on D, it depends on how the goalies play too.
