the Leafs already have Matt Dumba in Tyson Barrie and Galchenyuk is quite possibly the worst defensive forward in the NHL, and he doesnt score anymore either.
this is bad and pointless

Stop trying to move Liljegren. There are other pieces the Leafs can move and I have hard time believing they would pay anything close to that price for Dumba, nevermind that Alex fella.

How to develop a solid D-core:
-Draft well (Sandin/Liljegren)
-Allow time for development
-Ease the prospects into the lineup

-DONT TRADE THEM AWAY

But not for 6mil for the next 4 years. And yes Galchenyuk isn't great but paying a bit more in the trade to get him will fill the roster spot left by Johnsson in the playoffs and he's an upgrade from Timishov or anyone else we'd be putting in.

Fair! But every team makes sacrifices to win in a certain window. Leafs can't wait for Liljgren to maybe become as good as Dumba in the next 4 years.

you want to pay a guy who cant play defence 6 million for the next 4 years? and its not that galch isnt great, its that he is below replacement level. when i said might be the worst defensive forward in the NHL i meant it. he is really that bad. he is worse than every option the leafs currently have.

Find short term fixes then.

I honestly don’t even think it’s the quality of the d-men in toronto that is the issue, IMO it’s a fundamental issue when it comes to the team defending their own zone. They’re so aggressive in the offensive zone (which they should be...to a point), that it results in way too many high quality scoring chances coming the other way.

You could stack that D, but at the end of the day, you can only let up so many odd man rushes before bad sh1t happens.

Your last thread you posted, you moved him, so this comment is irrelevant. Especially when you have nothing to add.

Dumba has shown (prior to this year) that he can be a solid defenseman in this league. Yes he is more offensive minded, but Barrie will leave a hole next season that can be filled by Dumba. I also think he is better defensively than Barrie is. And Galch has proven in this league that he can score and put up points and there is no way we are worse off with him the Timoshov or the Goat. No way.

The Leafs have stated that we are looking to trade for a defenceman with term. You can't do that without making a splash. We aren't looking for short term help. And you could be right, but this is a fantasy trading website, not a place to change our defensive scheme. This trade makes sense for improving our team this year and the future.

Dumba has never been good defensively, and galch peaked at 20,both offensivly and defensively. Timashov and goat are 4th liners, but they are paid like 4th liners and they can play defence like 4th liners. Galch isnt going to score from the 4th line and he's worse defensively. it's not a good idea.

My last AGM thread, as in the one that upgrades the Leafs' defensive prospect from Timothy Liljegren to Evan Bouchard? That one. Clearly, if a team is trying to upgrade the prospect, there is a reason why you would want to move the lesser prospect. Even attempting to upgrade the position, there are obviously examples where a team, like Pittsburgh last night with Calen Addison, would be willing to part with a solid prospect, though I would argue Liljegren is way more NHL ready than Addison. Regardless, Dumba is not an upgrade, at least not an upgrade defensively. If you knew anything about this team that you are apparently a fan of, you would understand that scoring goals is CLEARLY not their issue. It's keeping pucks out of their own nets. Dumba is simply not the answer in that regard, so why in the world would you trade the Leafs' top defensive prospect for a player that doesn't solve the team's most pressing issue? Do not even get me started on Galchenyuk.
