It doesnt matter. you are retaining money on these 5 + hall (6,) this year. Even if they only retain on 3 next year, that doesnt mean this season doesnt count. Equally, you dont need to retain salary on Simmonds or Vats. Players at the deadline only carry about 1/4 of their cap hit since the cap hit gets prorated for about 20 games.
