Description
Montreal need to do something to get them self in the playoffs regularly and MB refuses/cant move Weber or price. A lot of people have been saying Caufield isn't ready yes and Romanov is a wild card so i doubt those players are coming to save us.

Trade : Tatar has been on a tear over the past year and is on a reasonable contract for his production with another year left on his contract his value is high.
with a 2nd round prospect, 1st and 2nd the will certainly help down the road.

2nd trade : Kovalchuk has been great since he got to Montreal and Boston is a serious contender. i can seen him filling the veteran roll Backes was playing with only a 700k cap hit, its something to consider (as long as his play doesnt complete fall off before the deadline)

trade 3: with the absence of buff all year and Winnipeg trading trouba and loosing chariot to free agency Winnipeg needs some help on there back end. flipping Scandella for a better pick and giving him a chance at the playoffs makes sense and if he wants to sign next year free agency i'm sure Montreal would take him back. Its also a cheap fix being a couple points out of a playoff spot.

trade 4: with 2 years left on his contract and great point production along with physical play Petry is going to fetch and 1st and a A prospect. Avalanche have a large amount of cap space and look like they're in fine forum going into the trade dead line so why not make yourself a serious contender for the next 2 years.

Petry has 1 year on his contract and thats an easy No from the Avs. RHD 2nd pairing Dman are not an area of need for them

Petry to VGK makes more sense and I dont like this trade for MTL. Id rather have a second instead of kaut honestly. Also, VGK first might end up being higher

and avs would rather keep Kaut...anyone that elite prospect page scout him easily dismiss him. Without following the Avs and the Eagles, its hard to get the context of his season. Slow start with 0 points, injury, since returning really nice production with 0 pp time bc Eagles HC only puts AHL lifers on the PP, would look a lot better if apparently his points would stop being credited to other players (taking word on guys who follow the AHL and comment that this happens a lot in the league)

Lots more for him to give and with his ELC able to slide again, a 5 year ELC while he still gets to develop isnt a bad thing

Petry has no problem playing a top line roll, he proved it when Weber was out last year for the first 2 months of last year. hes only on the 2nd line because it doesnt make sense for Weber and Petry to play on the first like. hes underrated and could bring a lot.

He made his nhl debut in the playoffs and was unreal, honestly dude you are off the mark so bad no point trying to argue with a guy who thinks Petry would be a top pairing dman over makar

Outside observers point of view. Petry is 32 so even if he resigns Colorado gets 2 or 3 more years of him but Montreal is getting a 1st and a top prospect. Now Colorado has Byrum, Timmons and Rosen why do they need to bring in a good 32 year old defenseman.

yeah but non of those players are currently playing. there is no doubt byrum is well on his way but if you had makar byrum timmon and rosen thats an extreme young d core. plus the have the money to spend now before they have to resign players like makar jost and girard. plus if he doesnt work out you can trade him as a ufa next year. i dont see the risk unless theyd rather go for a top 6 winger.

Yes this trade helps Montreal but Colorado has no reason to make the trade they just don't need a 32 year old defenseman. I think he has maybe 2 years before he starts to decline noticeably. By about 35 your body starts to slow down it happens to everyone. Even being as productive as he is after 30 takes a lot more work than it ever did when he was in his 20s. If you were to ask him I bet he watches what he eats year round and he probably is working out just about every day during the off season just to stay in shape. Very few players stay as productive past 35-36 years old and most of those players are the superstars of the league. What you think Petry SHOULD fetch not will fetch because every teams needs are different and every teams salary cap situation is different.
