But NJ isn't in any cap troubles at all or even any time soon. You might actually allow Miles to develop into a better player and be able to trade him for something useful down the road. I just don't think teams like NJ, DET, or OTT should be trading any assets away for pending UFAs. Just collect picks/prospects. Sign a guy or two. Build from within. Just me. Cheers

I don't see NJ moving any player under contract for a UFA. I don't see any team making such a move for that matter. However, I see where @cperk92 is coming from with the trade. If Pitt is really looking to get a roster player now to help them more so than Gal is for the possible playoffs, and even longer so if its a player under contract in return, I can see where NJ could be a suitable partner and Wood a possible target. BUT this only goes through if an extension is in place obtaining Gal. A short term i.e 2 year, discounted contract as he has greatly underperformed lately. Its a low-risk, high-reward scenario. And imo, if I had the choice of Gal or Wood, Id take Gal.

The value of the trade is fine but Id prefer to stay away from Galchenyuk. Seems like the Devils have had issues in the lockeroom in recent years and they are trying to change the culture. Not saying Galchy is a bad dude but he's had some questionable moments during his career, I could do without him in NJ.
