Backes has 2 years left, assuming De Haan Seabrook (maybe) and Shaw are all out for 2 years is a bit of a stretch considering the Cat and Strome raises next year

Bruins will just buy him out next year and keep their two best prospects.

They don’t need to trade him. They can re-sign everyone next year but Halak, with or without Backes. His contract is an inconvenience but not a hinderance.

And Boston has no interest in either of those guys anyway. Last thing they need is a LD and Sikura is just waiver wire material that would never make the team.

So you don’t know who the other players in the deal are. That’s fine, but this is a horrible trade for boston.
