AA isn't worth a 1st rounder let alone multiple pieces with it. He has ridiculous speed but cant play defense and even his offense has dried up this season.

If the Wings retain 50% and they send a roster player back like Timashov they could fit it in.
I'd do the deal if that were the case

Why? Gauthier and Spezza have been great 4th liners. I don't get why so many Leaf fans want to make so many moves all the time. Especially in areas that are not at all needed. They need a backup, so lets trade 4 roster players and make changes that will result in an adjustment period. Its just a waste of time.

Glendenning is a terrific penalty killer
I know the PK has been better since Keefe took over but I'm not convinced it will last forever.

Best in the league since he took over. And it looks completely different. Babs had his idea of how it should run and wouldn't stray from that, Keefe is letting his assistants try stuff and make adjustments. Which is what they should have been doing for ever but Babs is stubborn. I am not worried about the PK.

Good points. Engvall has been solid as well while shorthanded.

Exactly, this is just an overreaction because so many people always want more. The team has 2 areas that I see needing an upgrade. Backup and a RHD to replace Ceci. Other than that they are stacked and look like a team that will be hard to play against. Under Keefe they have been a different team entirely, great at 5v5, the best at PK so far and their PP has been really good too. They still tend to have lapses in judgement and defensive positioning but those stretches used to last periods and now are only a couple of shifts before they get back into things. The more they play under Keefe the less those moments are going to happen and if they can not shoot themselves in the face every game, this team is just way too good to not win more than they lose by a wide margin.

Should have been more specific, his goal scoring has dried up. 30 last year, on pace for 15 this year, and he is a -35 this year. Definitely not worth a 1st, let alone the prospect with it.

Max Domi after 33 games last year 14 and 33 points this year after 33 games 6 goals and 14 points. That means he is 8 goals behind last years pace.

Now AA has 5 goals and at the same point last season he had 11 goals making him 6 goals behind last years pace.

Since 6 goals is 2 goals less than 8 goals. So according to your logic that means Domi's scoring has dried more than AA's. Right?

What does Max Domi have to do with AA? Domi isn't playing well this year either and he is a playmaker not a goal scorer. AA has two good things about him, his speed and the fact that he has been able to find the back of the net, he has lost his scoring touch this year and its making his non existent defensive play look even worst, hence his value being low. if you want to compare Domi and AA though ill point out here is a 39 point difference in their +\-

Every say AA is playing so poorly and he sucks. But if people bother to look he really isn't doing that bad considering the team has 24 less goals than they did at this point. I used Domi because you are a Montreal fan and I was trying to show he really isn't have that bad of a season as you stated in your comment above. Yes he is bad at defense and we knew that already but I'm sure everyone on Detroit +/- is down from last season, As a team Detroit has they have scored 24 less goals and have let in 17 more goals than this point last season. But you never answered my question you simply threw AA's very bad +/- at me which to most consider a useless stat.

So has Domi's scoring dried up as well?

Literally just said Domi was having a bad year, so I still dont know what your point is. You're using team statistics to show that AA isn't that bad but this is a prime year for him to show improvement, he gets as many minutes as he wants, all the pp time he wants and had been steadily improving his play year to year until this year. He is a fast player that used to score, he starts scoring again and you get that 1st, if he continues to play like he has he isn't worth the 1st.

I agree that but I also wouldn't be surprised if Detroit doesn't trade him because his value is low and Detroit doesn't have many good pieces they can trade so they have to make the most out of the ones they can trade. Holland left Detroit with several players making about twice what they should be making and most of them have had NTCs.
