CAR is gonna give their best C prospect to us for an AHL winger and an overpaid 4th line center? Ok....

NYR is gonna give us their best C prospect for an AHL winger and a decent D prospect, when they have Fox, Miller, Trouba, D'Angelo, Skjei, etc, etc. Ok....

No way car is giving up necas for Svechnikov. Also, Nielsen adds nothing to any trade, nobody wants a overpaid 4th liner who can’t score

Where do you see Filppula playing? I wouldn't play him over any centers Montreal currently has and I don't think he's fast enough to play a winger spot. I

Carolina would never make that trade. I don't know about the Rangers trade. I like it but I don't know if they would do it. Filppula is a solid 3rd line center and right now obviously our 2nd line center. Trading him would be a mistake, he provides more here than a 3rd/4th round pick would. You might as well be slapping Bertuzzi in the face with that contract, he would literally leave and go to Europe if we even offered that. Athanasiou is also underpaid, you could make the argument for Mantha as well.

HabsForEver - I see him playing either LW or Center on the 3rd/4th line if this trade happened. He'd be a depth piece that has lots of playoff experience. He's only got 1 year left on his deal at this point and the Wings playing him as a 2nd line Center isn't where he should be playing. His plus minus at -27 says enough that he's not a 2C anymore and would be better off in a limited role. The Wings have plenty of role players and Filppula would help a team that can contend in the playoffs.

wingss - I'm aware Carolina probably wouldn't make this trade, but one can only hope. The Rangers trade is a crap shoot. Only reason I think it'd be possibility is because Andersson is buried on the depth chart for them and they have a lot of young talent already. Maybe the Rangers would entertain the trade with different pieces/prospects... who knows. As far as the contracts and money for Bertuzzi, Mantha and AA I believe I'm in the ballpark on most of the contracts based on previous years.
Starting with Bertuzzi - I agree I'm a bit light on $ for this if you are looking at this years improvements but I'd currently compare his contract offer to something similar to what Andrew Shaw makes per year ($3.9M). I based his contract off of the numbers he posted in the 18-19 season. Now that said, Bertuzzi is on pace to have roughly 65 points this year, which would warrant a contract around the $5.4-$5.9M range.
As for AA - I believe he is an electric player at times and can be a key player for the Wings future. The problem I have with handing out anything over $5M with more term than 4 years is because he's shown year after year that he is really inconsistent. When he's hot, he's on fire... but when he's cold, he's ice cold and a defensive liability. He reminds me a lot of a young Darren Helm, but more skilled handling the puck. Yes, he put up 54 pts and 30 goals last season which should warrant a contract in the $5-$5.5 range. I don't see him as anything more than a 2nd line forward that could spot fill on a 1st line if needed. Paying AA anything more than $5M would hinder the Wings ability in a couple years to fill out a more well rounder roster up front and on the back end. This would also allow his contract to be trade-able if the Wings ever explore that idea.
In regards to Mantha - he's deserving of a nice pay day as he's turning into the player the Wings had hoped for when they drafted him. I do think they try to keep it under $7M with term of 6-7 years though. He's a power forward that can produce at all ends of the ice and could possibly be a point per game player (pending he could stay healthy for an entire season). I think they will reward him, but they will also keep in mind that Mantha, Bert, AA, Larks and Hronek are the key pieces to the rebuild and there will be a couple pieces to the puzzle that they will have trade for or find in free agency that will need paid in order to make this team a contender for the playoffs again.

Tag me next time so I can reply...

if Montreal makes the playoffs, It's going to be by the skin on their teeth. You don't play him over KK or Thompson with the way he's been playing. Maybe 4th line wing, but I doubt he's going to replace Byron or Suzuki there
