I’m no longer sure that the usual addition of talent will help us, this team has no heart and passion, no leadership presence and the right culture. The team captain goes to fight, and half of the players or even more on the bench do not even react to it and continues to play with a stone face.

Oh I know. It’s to the point where the fun of tanking like for Dahlin isn’t even motivating. I’m just done with this nonsense. This roster needs an overhaul and a filter. I think we have a lot of nice pieces but need to get rid of the players who take up the space to not produce and acquire talent like this is solidify our group.

Its an interesting point. Fighting isnt an integral part of the game anymore, but pushing back in the face of adversity is. I dont need to see a bunch of fights, or eichel dropping the gloves, but i need to see more push back. We have a number of european players, we are supposed to be outskating and outplaying the other team. I dont see these guys being motivated because a teammate got into a fight. All of this is fine, cte is a terrible thing, fighting should have very little presence in the nhl in light of the danger. Teams before us have won on talent- im thinking red wings and pens here- but fighting to get to the net and just adversity is missing here. There is something terribly wrong here.

I think you guys are looking at this all wrong. Your fast start shows you have the chemistry and talent in place to win games. You are also dealing with a new coach and a new system and learning that system is going to take precedence over all else. As that happens the players are going to get a feel for where they fit in on this team and you will see the team get better similar to the start of this season. The difference will when something goes wrong the team will adapt and be able to over come the problems as a team, instead one or two players thinking its up to them to fix everything. Now if you go out and add a bunch of new players and move out a bunch of players out it puts you back to square one and the players have to figure where they fit in all over again. I wouldn't expect a bunch of changes your new coach did that already before his first season which is very smart by getting it out of the way. I do believe this is called finding an identity but labeling thing on this site is always good because people on this site absolutely butcher hockey terms. Even though I'm not a Buffalo fan I do think Buffalo is on the right track of doing things the right way. it's just going to take some patients.
