I think he has worked for St. Louis, Montreal, Detroit, Pittsburg and Chicago and he likes to work for teams that have a real shot of winning the Stanley Cup so I think he may be willing to take on the job. The Leafs with Taveres, Matthews, Marner, Nylander and Reilly have a strong young core which he would like and he knows Shanahan and stranger things have happened in hockey hires.

Na he isn’t interested in working anymore, he is 86. He just enjoy is retirement and have gave a interview lately with ken dryden about is memoirs and the questions as been asked and he laughed about it he doesn’t want to work anymore even if he still enjoy hockey a lot. And he work for buffalo in the 80’s

As of January 2018 Bowman is living in Sarasota, Florida, attending all of the Tampa Bay Lightning home games in his role as the Senior Advisor of Hockey Operations for the Chicago Blackhawks, managed by his son Stan Bowman. Scotty follows the league from Tampa Bay, as he currently isn't heavily involved with the Blackhawks.

That is from Wikipedia. I'm pretty sure he wouldn't work against his son. As soon as his son was hired by the Blackhawks he left Detroit and was hired by Chicago as an advisor.

No, he should let his GM make the Big Boy decision he tried to make this summer.

Interesting idea ...but this is not all THAT complicated.
Leafs mgmt & players have to get their heads around (imo, what Babcock & Hayley Wickenheiser clearly understand):
#1: until NHL rules change, hockey remains a 'contact sport' - not a 'controlled-contract' sport like basketball; at NHL level defense requires a consistent, full-team effort and not the paying of occasional lip service to defensive responsibilities)
#2: Leafs have to find players who can consistently move the puck through the neutral zone;
#3: for all Leafs' high skill level, winning requires both the individual and also collective 'gnawing need' to win. (This is what Ovi was referring to.) Winning coaches such as Lombardi & Belichick NEVER smile(d). There is reason for this. Too many Leafs, with their $$$contracts, view what they're doing 'as a game'...and not 'as a war'.
As with Ovi/Washington, we can only hope Leafs will find that 'gnawing need' - that true 'identity' to which Babs has alluded.
