If that’s the case I’m sure there would be no issue with packaging someone like kahun with him. The pens have 14-15 capable nhl forwards right now and can handle adding a somewhat substantial sweetener to get rid of JJ.

It’s random and probably will never happen but I think it looks pretty fair for both ends.

unless you want every game to look like MIN game you have to either play Guddy, or find someone to fill that role.

Honestly, it's hard to judge this team at this point.
Their 4 wins are against CBJ, ANA, MIN, and WPG.

That's not saying a whole hell of a lot.
They have two bigger games in the next 10 days or so. One against COL and another against TB.
Those games are going to tell use more about where this team is than any of those above 4.

I don't think CBJ makes that trade.

What I do know is that Lafferty looks like he belongs on the ice and I think the guy who he chases off is Kahun.

Even though ZAR has made a mistake here or there on the ice, he's really disruptive. He's been all over the play the last 3 games today he finally got some puck luck with it. He's also the better PK option.
The other option is Simon. Who can't put the puck in the net for **** but he's really good at playing keep away. Which really does seem to work well with Crosby and Jake because as long as they have the puck, those two can score. He's kind of a slow version of Hags in the regard.

This team is so deep at forward. But none of it is super star level. But you add Rust in this group and there is a lot of team speed on the ice.
Which is exactly how they should be playing.

I agree they still need a physical guy...I just don’t want that physical guy to make $4M. That’s why I think Kurtis MacDermid from LA would be a solid option on that third pairing for this season at least.

Though they’ve won against 4 fringe teams putting up 7 goals in 3 of those 4 games is nothing to really sneeze at.

The CBJ Trade was just something random I had in my head and thought it could work. But honestly they don’t need a top 4 D if they keep Pettersson with Schultz.

I agree that ZAR has been really good on the penalty kill plus he had quite a few good plays at the front of the net tonight.

I think Lafferty and A. Johnson have looked legit since coming up. So much to the point that Lafferty deserves a consistent lineup spot in the bottom six.

I’m not really sure what kahun’s deal is at this point. He looked like he was gonna be a stud who played alongside Crosby and Guentzel at the time of the trade but has been invisible and buried on the fourth line. I could easily see him being a casualty that occurs due to all the depth they have.

It’s super early but we’re gonna see what happens here soon enough.

yup, clock is ticking. Guys start coming off IR and they are going to need to make a move one way or another.
But with how a lot of teams are looking on defense, I think someone is about to grab a guy up from them. Too many teams looking too weak on defense and needing NHL level bodies.

My only issue with MacDermid is his lack of playing time at the NHL level. I know Guddy is expensive. No one is going to argue that. But there is pedigree there. Especially if you can put him in a position where he can succeed. I don't know that you get the same out of MacDermid.
MacDermid on the other hand hasn't even played 1 full season. And I feel like he wouldn't get on the ice, let alone have to maybe play his weak side because the 3 on RD are really solid. But he is a natural lefty. playing on the RD as odd as that is.
Ideal they could get a guy who is LD, and NHL caliber. But we'll see.

Something is bound to give. Bjugstad Kahun looking like the two who probably on the block if the AHL call ups can keep it up.
Add that to JJ and if they can find a cheaper Guddy. But I honestly don't know where they find a cheaper Guddy at who is proven NHL level talent.

It's less than 1.5 mil/yr if buried... That's a combined bit under 6... 6.25 in ONE year cost a first... Over 4 years where it'll be around 1.5% of the total cap for the last two... Basically a free second for those years...
