Description
Hey just wondering if the risto situation is growing? I assume that Botterill is patient and won’t move him unless the package is right. I honestly don’t like risto and he was bad in his own end last year so I wouldn’t trade for him. But I was just more wondering if there was any new developments.

I really doubt the Jets have any serious interest in trading for a dman even if Buff leaves, given Chevy's MO. That dude does not trade core pieces no matter what and that's probably the price of a top RHD. The Jets get a ton of cap space back if Buff retires and I'd imagine they'll want to extend Patty as soon as possible, especially with Hamonic, Barrie, Tanev, Schultz all being UFA's this summer.

Random question, kings panic, Blake calls Chevy and doughty is offered, buffy pearrault contracts to cover the money, and Gustafson, vaselainen, Stanley and couple firsts is the ask. What’s next? Full nmc I’m guessing but damn would be nice to fill that 1rd and let the rest of the blueline come together

Agreed, I still think hamonic is the most realistic option.

Barrie or Schultz maybe, we need a shutdown RHD more than an OFD. Someone to play second pairing as Niku will probably get 1RD minutes. Need a shutdown guy to play with heinola.

Winnipeg gets outbid on free agency, going to take a pronger to Edmonton type deal, to get a top end defenseman or homegrown

Hamonic probably the only one interested, the rest probably go warmer locales, unless there caps don’t fit, but July 1 always extra regret money kicking around.

Like I said, I wouldn’t trade for risto. I just more so wanted to know if there was any new news on the situation. Hamonic is most realistic option.

I can’t see the Jets having any interest in paying Doughty $11m/season until he is 37 let along give up what amounts to 4 firsts and a second.

Problem with those two is that while we have cap space, we don't have that much cap space. We're currently operating close to cap. Next year, we get about 13mill in cap space from Buff and Kulikov. Immediately, we will lose approximately 5mill of that extending Ros, Niku, and Apples. I would hope we extend Laine, immediately. Now the good news with that extension is that is 4.25mill raise I would want to give him is coming from Perreault's contract. We would however immediately lose 3 paying Morrissey. We now have approximately 5mill left spend in FA.

Fair enough, I thought he was a little younger, I’m playing more devils advocate here than anything, but would be nice to buy something that could put this team over the top in the west.

Honestly I would rather Risto than Hamonic. Risto is the top dman on a garbage team, but a lot of his relative stats are fairly good, and at 5.5mill he's probably the better option than Hamonic at approximately the same price. The key here is that I wouldn't give up anything significant for Risto. I puke a little when I talk to someone who actually thinks we would ever trade Ehlers. Someone on here listed Risto for 2 2nd round picks. I wouldn't hate that trade if one of those picks was conditional on Risto not being garbage.

Which is why I say we get hamonic for 4x5.

Sabres have a massive log jam with Mountour and Bogo when they get back Nelson is another NHL worthy d man and Borgen and Fitzgerald developing. I wouldnt want to see the Sabres move him, and I think Montour or Miller just go to their offhand side once Montours back. Maybe they move Nelson to give him a shot somewhere, but i dont think they need to move Risto or want to right now. Though if Borgen starts making big strides that issue is going to creep up again
