Almost a done deal for me;

J. Drouin
J. Brook
C. Hudon
2020 4th round pick (WPG)
2020 2nd round pick (CHI) **Condition: 2020 2nd round pick (CHI) becomes 2021 1st round pick (MTL) if P. Laine scores 40 goals in the regular season**

How's that?

Jets say no. To get Laine you're gonna have to blow Chevy's socks off.

It's gonna have to look like:

Drouin
Brook
Suzuki
1st

Ya it seems like a lot to Montreal fans, but if you look at Laine's numbers, there are some crazy stats to look at. I will link this article from sportsnet last year. Yeah I get he's a defensive liability, but hes ONLY 21 YEARS OLD. Could you imagine if WSH traded OV when he was 21, Laine now isn't as good as OV was at this point but I do think that Laine will grow his game and learn how to play in his own end. The only way a Laine trade gets accepted is if the there GM literally blows Chevy away with the package. Most teams aren't going to want to pay the price for him. So at this point, I see Laine sticking around in WPG for a while.

Thats asking too much and no other team would pay that value imo.

3rd overall pick
13th overall pick - Blue chip prospect
1st
56th overall pick - top 10 RHD prospects in the league.

I agree with you that Laine is impressive. I wouldn’t try to acquire him with a package like this otherwise. I just don’t see the Jets getting full value for him because of the current situation. Laine will stay with Bern if he doesn’t get what he wants and I doubt Chevy will give in.

This trade bring a somewhat local guy (Brook) to help the Jets defense. Drouin can fill in on the top 6 and play with Ehlers again, you get Hudon that helps with a bottom role and ups the roster size and you get a 1st on top of that. I have a hard time seeing Winnipeg getting a better value for a player who seems like somewhat of a risk at the moment for other teams.

What if instead of Hudon, Habs threw in a goalie like Charlie Lindgren?

Switching Hudson for another prospect does get it closer, but I don't see Chevy making a trade unless it really makes the team a lot better. I think Drouin + Brook + 1st is a good base. But I do think Jets would need another A or A- prospect coming back. Chevy is too patient to rush a trade, he knows that Laine's value is down. On the topic of his contract, apparently Chevy's last offer to him was 3x5, which even I wouldn't take if I was him lol. Clearly Chevy is playing the Connor and Laine contracts on the cheaper side. He doesn't want to make a stupid signing and handcuff the team like TOR. I see Connor getting 7x7 and Laine getting Point money. I think Laine 100% accepts a deal like points.

I see Conkor accepting a bridge deal around 6.5M-7 but i think Laine believes hes worth more and will want a bridge around 7.5

Connor isn't worth more than 5m on a bridge. He's easily 7m at 7 years. Maybe 7.25m. Not sure how or why Laine would expect 7.5 on a bridge. Just look at the other RFAs that have signed, aka Boeser and Point. Yeah taxes are different in Tampa, but not much different in Vancouver. I don't see Laine getting a whole lot more than Boeser. I see Laine wanting something exactly like Points contract, then his QO will be at least 9m. It just makes more sense for both sides.

The title implies you are proposing to MTL fans as a Jets fan. This trade is not good. Not only does it not fill any holes for the Jets (2C or top 4 defensman) it also favors the Habs since they are trading are hardly loosing value

I know fans of always trading Drouin to the Jets, partly for cap reasons and to fill a LW position in case Laine is traded. But if I'm the Jets, I'd stay away. If part of the Jets plan is need and futures, trade Laine and get some needed pieces for now and futures. 5.5m for Drouin just might be a waste.
Danault at centre for two years, Kulak for three years at LHD, Brook looks like he might be NHL ready at RHD and Poehling for a future centre. And that might be too much for Montreal to give up

I don't think Laine has this value... He's a super player, but one way, bad attitude, only 21 years old and he wants some player on his line... I don't want him on the MTL roster... So Connor is available??
