If this $11m x 7 offer really happened in June, then TOR already missed their chance at trading him for full value. At this point, it is gonna be extremely hard to find any takers. I'd say it's less than a 1% chance that a GM would trade multiple impact players for Marner without a contract. TOR isn't the only team balking at the asks from Marner's camp.

TOR can't just pass their dirty laundry on to another team. I think they just need to talk down the AAV (and the ridiculous ask in year 3 of the deal to get the huge QO) and kick the can to 3 years down the road. Get him for 3 yrs x 7m or let him sit until he takes that or the long deal.

As a Leaf fan, I agree with you. He is either going to sign or sit. Every other team in the NHL (outside of Ottawa) that has the cap space to accommodate his alleged demands is trying to sign their own high priced RFA's. There is no way in reality he will be able to facilitate a trade/offer sheet unless he drops his ask. And if he does that, he will sign in Toronto.

But it sure is fun to fantasize
