If Marner doesn't sign...why would Jersey want him?

Then why would Jersey trade for him? They may not want to pay him that much either. Admitting Jersey might be about the only team in the league that could take an overpaid Marner this year and for the next few years...without moving out other pieces.
Don't think the Leafs do the deal. After this year it the trade would be Marner for Severson.

Now this is for marner, grew up a leaf fan lives in TO in off season plus endorsements and he's willing to get traded to God knows where for 2 million. Now that a lot of money but really with taxes etc is it that much11 mil 9 mil most would jump at it ,grow up before your playing in Minnesota or something plus loose a big portion of the God almighty money by sitting.
Not saying your not worth more or that your not as good as tavares or matthews but bridge and move on. Plenty of time to make more money. Running 2 houses if not in TO will cost as well.Its not about a home town discount it's about being at home where you likely want to be, Crosby and others took a small haircut to stay where there happy. And this isn't the Shanahan speech about for the good of the team it's about you being happy playing where you want in TO for the sake of a small amount of money in the huge picture

Paying Marner 11 million is about 11 million times better than giving Hall a 7 year deal x 10 million a year. Hall will be 29 when this next contrat starts and his style will result in an earlier decline than others. Not at all a wise plan to give him term that covers ages 30-36

Why should Jersey include Severson in that deal? Hall is a rental and we don't know jet if he'll resign or not.. But we're still not in presure to get rid of him. And even if we were.. There's no reason to include a top-4 d who's still very young and on a very reasonable contract for some years.
