Description
Youth movement in scratches

Boston: moves Backes cap and gets AA a vet with experience who’s cheap with the retention and can help with a cup run

Anisimov+2nd for JFK
Backes to Ottawa with first as incentive plus retention on AA

Montreal: for a add of depth to make this team very strong and help compete with the strong east. I could be wrong but Ottawa fans may say Ottawa loses this trade, so if things need to be added LMK/ if I’m way off

JY + part of Firsts value for JGP with retention + Tierney
Alzner to Ottawa with part of first as incentive + allure of acquiring JY

    Maybe it is because I don't know the habs prospects very well, but that seems like a sweet deal for the Habs

    He’s fast, very fast and a good play maker but still very young. I’m not too knowledgeable on him but that’s what I know and heard he’s a higher end habs prospect that’s why I’m not sure if Ottawa likes it more or habs like it more

    It may only be my opinion but :

    1- Habs don't need Pageau nor Tierney
    2- Ylonen is a very high valued prospect and will probably be better than JGP
    3- Habs do not need to get rid of Alzner's contract
    4- 2020 draft is in MTL so habs won'T get rid of this 1st expect for an under payment which is not the case here

    Now maybe I’m wrong but this was my thought:

    MTL could definitely use JGP and tierney if they want to make the playoffs now lines would be:

    Tatar - Danault - Gallagher
    ^ the usual line nothing changes

    Domi - Kotkaniemi - Drouin
    ^ this is the real top line, I think JK earns the shot the at 2C and gets 2 talent wingers (something Mcdavid dreams of)

    Lehkonen - Tierney - JGP/Armia
    ^ this makes MTL an incredibly deep team, you have a defensively reliable 3rd line who can be strong in both ends

    Byron - Poehling/ whoever ain’t playing 3rd - Weal

    Now you have an a team deep enough to keep with he likes of Florida I’d think, than it comes down to D and Price van Bob

    Spot on!
    Habs already have plenty of players to fill mid-6 lineup;
    Ylonen is a keeper for now, until they can figure out what he can do on a small ice;
    Alzner's contract becomes an ASSET next year with a B/O cost of $833,333 over 4 years, but expensive cap hit = worth gold for bottom-feeders;
    The NHL draft is in Mtl and the pressure will be on MB to have a good draft. Don't see him giving away a pick like that...

    See, I have to disagree here. What you are trying to do is right in a circumstances where habs dont have any prospect coming down. The point is habs have : Suzuki, Caufield, Poehling, Ylonen, Ikonen who will/could all be top 9 players within 2 years from now. It gives something like :

    Tatar - Danault - Gally
    Domi - Poehling/KK - Drouin
    Lehkonen - Poeling/KK - Armia
    Byron - Cousins - Weal

    for this current year. Next year it will be something like :

    Domi - KK/Poehling - Gally
    Drouin - KK/Poehling - Caufield
    Lehkonen - Danault/Ikonen - Suzuki
    Byron - Danault/Ikonen - Ylonen.

    You realize I left : Tatar, Armia out or this equation ? And that we have plenty of room left given Ylonen is on the 4th line... Also, we would have assets back for Tatar and Armia.... We dont need to pay a 1st and a A- B+ prospect for expendable assets who wont play next year

    But Poehling although he was amazing to watch in that final game lmao; it was fun and I hate the habs. I think he won’t see 2nd line time unless something drastic happens. I’m not dissing the habs in any of my comments I just see yes maybe the 2020 pick can change to 2021 or 2 2nds or whatever as personally I liked Ottawa getting JY more than pick itself, but the habs/ and any other team can certainly always use depth. Tierney did well with 2nd line time (Probably saw some first cause Ottawa is a dumpster fire) and JGP can do 1/2 line time (although his latest injury is a scare). This transition can help Poehling easily come into the show. Additionally, to be frank Tampa, Boston, Leafs, Washington, Pittsburgh are a “lock” for the playoffs.

    That leaves 3 spots, technically 2 as 1 goes to 3rd metro. So 2 spots all being battled for by:

    New Jersey
    Islanders
    Florida
    Philadelphia
    Carolina
    Buffalo
    Florida
    Montreal

    That’s 7 (8 really but 1 goes to Metro 3rd) teams for 2 spots. Now personally I would bet Florida is almost 90% locked. Now we got 6 teams for 1 (but personally I’d scratch Buffalo and Islanders[RIP Lehner]) so that makes 4. MTL PHI CAR NJD, that’s 4 teams that all deserve a playoff spot by the looks of it. We’ve seen it every year almost, anything can happen once you’re in the playoffs. Price deserves to get playoff hockey and I think JGP but more so Tierney really help this roster round out. Plus Tierney is an RFA so you guys get control to a degree on how that contract is (kept or moved). I know Montreal got rookies but Suzuki imo can cook for a year but Poehling 100% as it seems currently is gonna play atleast 2/3 or 3/4 of the season, just think with these additions if it was the current trade but instead of the 2020 first it was a 2021 first or 2020 2nd 2021 2nd and maybe like a 2020 4th habs would do very well
