Only way to reach the cap floor this year. All contracts are insured so Melnyk only forks out a check of like 10% of their owed salary or something to that effect.

Putting them on LTIR means that their cap hit won't effect the team cap. Means Ottawa won't be able to reach the cap floor without their contracts. Like what Arizona has done with Hossa, Datsyuk and Pronger for the past 5 years or something.
