Carolina would reject this pretty quickly. You're talking the wrong D man from the Carolina perspective. Pesce is not touchable. Ever. Carolina also have just 4 mil in cap with Williams to resign, this doesn't work

Pesce is a very good player but they are getting an elite goal scorer, bordering on generational elite goal-scorer potential who is also only 21 years old and could be locked up for 7-8 years. Not to say they would or should make the trade but they'd be fools not to consider it.

Pesce is going to be a top pairing shut down D man who can produce. You don't trade those for nothing. You don't **consider** trading Pesce for someone who had less than 50 pts last year

Its absurd to think Laine doesn't have the potential to put up 50+ goals and 80-90 points for multiple seasons on any team in the NHL. Winnipeg would never trade him straight up for Pesce, no matter how highly you value a top pairing D man there are plenty of options around the league that would cost us way less then a 1 for 1 where we send Laine. Laine is truly one of the untouchables because he will be a generational goal scorer, he's 21, and no matter how good Pesce is, there is always a price on a top pairing D man other then a select few in this league.

That's not overvaluation, that's just the facts.

There is a price, and it's more than Laine. Laine is a horrific player with a nice shot, he is the definition of a one trick pony. That one trick is pretty damn valuable though....
