Description

I don't actually think they should do this, but something crazy is going to happen with all these unsigned RFAs. Would hate to lose Dougie, but this would be the price (and more since he only has 2 years remaining on his contract).
Nino becomes expendable and moving him allows them to bring back Williams. A young D (Fleury, Bean, Forsling, etc) would have to log second pairing minutes. Or perhaps TVR plays the left side with Faulk or Pesce.

Laine-Aho-Svech would be a hell of a first line.

I'm sure teams would inquire about Svech, but there's also a less than zero chance Canes would move Svech. Dougie is damn good, and probably doesn't get enough credit.

Maybe, but it's more about moving his salary to make way for Laine in this scenario. I think Nino also performed well because he was on Aho's wing. Like Ferland, take him away from Aho and you don't see nearly the same results.

There are other ways to make cap space. You could not bring back Williams or trade a couple of the 2 million dollar 4th liners. I think El Nino holds more value than any of those guys. At worst, away from Aho, he's a 0.5 per game player but he's likely better than that since he's left Minnesota.

Then your asking for Wheeler or Schieflie instead of Laine. Svech has more value, Laine just had a horrific season his value is not that high right now

No what you said was Svechnikov. Svechnikov holds more value than Laine, so you move up to one of their elite talents for the kid

I'm not saying that trade would actually happen, but you'd have to believe that would be the initial ask from WPG for Laine.

That's what I would ask if I were WPG. But I think Slavin, Pesce, Svech, Aho are the untradeables for the team.
