I don't think we should be a player for Faulk. Especially since an Orlov-Faulk defensive pairing would be straight up scary for the Caps in their d-zone. If we're going to sign a free agent D, I'd like someone with the skill set of Hamonic. Also, don't see a need for Glendening. Dowd is more than serviceable at 4C. Also, if you're going to have Leason in the NHL next season, put him on the third line with Eller and Panik over at RW. Fourth line minutes for prospects aren't exactly the best route towards developing into a top 6 forward.

Faulk is overrated. Would much rather use that money elsewhere. Plus I think Jensen will have a great year. We shouldn't need to add defensemen for a very long time. We are stacked there.

Glendening is bad. Dowd is much better and cheaper.

Let Leason develop. We don't need to ruin his development like we did with Wilson just playing him on the 4th line.

I don't think we add a defenseman unless neither Jensen nor Gudas shows they can effectively play consistent top four minutes. I'd also prefer a tandem of Samsonov and Markstrom going into 2020-21, to keep the starts split at about 50-32.

Faulk is the bees knees, some years, when he shows up at all. Other years, you're better off bringing up a slow-cooked prospect like Johansen. Given the difference in salary, that's not a tough call.

Smith, or a similarly proven veteran, for 20 games to take the pressure off the kids is a terrific idea, post-Holtby. Bishop. Markstrom. Whoever's available and wants the gig, at a number that works.

What is it with Caps fans wanting to give the Wings good young players for old guys who will only be better than them for another year or two? Oh, right, closing window, and all. Yeah, if Stephenson takes a few more steps forward this year, that trade should become unnecessary, but based on last year's performance, it's fine.

They each played 19 minutes a night last year and did great. On a lot of teams, that's the bar for a #4. If they and Kempny just stick at 19, Orlov sticks at 23, Carlson sticks at 25, and Ovi keep splaying 5 minutes a night on power play point, that leaves ten minutes a night for one of Djoos/Siegenthaler. So assuming the Caps don't trade a defenseman to start this year, it's more likely that Jensen and Gudas' minutes decline from last year than that they increase.
