Faulk is the bees knees, some years, when he shows up at all. Other years, you're better off bringing up a slow-cooked prospect like Johansen. Given the difference in salary, that's not a tough call.
Smith, or a similarly proven veteran, for 20 games to take the pressure off the kids is a terrific idea, post-Holtby. Bishop. Markstrom. Whoever's available and wants the gig, at a number that works.
What is it with Caps fans wanting to give the Wings good young players for old guys who will only be better than them for another year or two? Oh, right, closing window, and all.
