I like Jones, but a couple things with this. I think it was too much to give up for him. Usually a top player goes for a 1st, high end prospect and usually a player they can plug in. Second of all, Columbus needs Jones especially at that contract. That team was gutted after free agency, and he and Dubois are the only ones going to be carrying that team for a long time.

exactly thats why i think this is an opportunity to get him, vatanen is a capable defender truthfully a 3 or 4 imo, mueller still has upside and can play in the nhl, plus columbus still has some decent defenders. Since they were gutted we send mcleoud and three picks this year. I imagine it's tough to say no, and with jones all of a sudden defense becomes our strength.

It's possible its too much as you mentioned, but at the same time jones could be contesting for the norris for a long time, I assume the 2 firsts have to stay? maybe pull back the 4th?

I am a Devils fan, but I think Jones is just too valuable. I think if Columbus is going to entertain this it would need to be more like a 1st ( NJ ), Vatanen and either one of Hall or Hischier.

That isnt close to Jones value and theirs a 0% Columbus is going to move any of their remaining stars

I like jones because despite cbj not wanting to move him, they need to recoup assets so would certainly need to consider...I'd rather overpay like this for jones than offersheet marner and we keep 2 firsts

if Columbus even thinks Jones is expendable, which they dont, I dont think NJD has anything they'd be will to move that Columbus wants
