I don’t think Columbus does this deal unless they get an offer they can’t refuse.

The Rangers give up a ton to sure up Center depth with a player on the rise and unite the Panarin/ Dubois combo, plus get under the cap. Anderson gives the Rangers a younger big power forward to Replace Kreids.

Columbus gets some promising pieces in return that very well may pan out better for them going forward and bank on a high pick in a deep 2020 draft and a 1st in 2021, while they rebuild. They also get an additional year of RFA with Chytl and can use the money they would have spent on a Dubois deal to sign Kreider with likely additional cap space for other moves that Dubois would have tied up with another great year.

In the end it leaves the Rangers with cap space without buying out Shatty or Smith, both get another year to up their value and be moved at the deadline.

Hajek, Fox, and Kratsov start the year getting top minutes with the Wolfpack, while Gorton continues to work the phones.
