What do the rangers do this off-season
I think the off season moves start around Buchnevich. I’m wary of giving him a long term deal anyway, but especially considering we have Laf, Kappo, and Kratsov who project to be Top 6 wingers. I’d personally prefer to trade him in a package deal for a stud player ( preferably a legit top 6 center) or for the best return of assets possible. I think resigning him is a mistake unless Kappo or Kratsov bring back that stud player.

Hello Leafs --- you cannot say no
I like the creativity, but this is absolute cap hell for the Rangers and you are basically assuming all the issues of Toronto in having far too much money in 3 forwards who have never advanced in the playoffs.
You can likely only resign one of Fox, Zib, or Reilly and would struggle to fit in Miller, Kratsov, Chytl or anyone else of value going forward.

I agree, I don’t want Laine anywhere near my lineup due to attitude and both the cost to get him and hit to the salary cap.

Finding Grit in the bottom 6 isn’t that hard and is easily obtainable for $ and mid level prospects. Not sure you have the intriguing grit in the top 6 anymore, Anderson,Folligino, and PLD are the type of players we need.
Imagining the BJ from two years ago with Mika, Laf, and Kappo/Kratsov in the top 6 and our d with one more vet, that’s a cup contender for sure. Add in some experience and grit to the 4th line and you are set.
Fantasy land lineup:
Laf Mika Kappo/Kratsov or Folligino
Panarin PLD Anderson
Kreider Chytl Kappo/Kratsov or Folligino
Barron Getzlaf Delaureie (sp)
Lindgren Fox
Miller Trouba
Jones Savard
Shesty
Henrik ( ride out the career in style)

Outside of what Columbus thinks of the return, I don’t think the Rangers are going to want to trade two of their top young players that play physical games, but still have the projected skill to play big minutes for more top end skill. For a team that’s trying to up their physicality at the top of the lineup this isn’t the right deal, regardless of how much I like Roslovic.
I understand the thought process though with JD. I’d put Buch as the centerpiece of this deal if it included Roslovic, don’t see a need for Texier.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CMcAvoy73</b></div><div>Thats not point per game.
Strome is also a career a .55 point per game player over his career. If strome puts in another year like this, maybe I’ll believe it. Until then, I’m going to take his career
rather than a 50 game stretch producing with panarin. A good 50 game stretch for point production happens all the time, especially when a player is put in a situation conducive to putting up points. Let’s see him maintain this, not quite point per game rate, over a longer period.</div></div>
No one said he was a point per game player, but that he’s close to it. I largely agree with a lot of your points and definitely think he needs another similar year to cement his trade value, but I do think Strome has turned his career around since joining the Rangers and it’s not 100% to do with Panarin as he still had 11 points in the 14 games Panarin was out, which is amongst the top point production in the league for 2nd line centers this season.
My point is that Strome has developed a significant amount of trade value since he was acquired for Ryan Spooner and isn’t an insignificant piece in a package for anyone anymore. Whether a team wants to take that risk without another year of similar production or the fact that he only has one year left on his contract is a different story, but Eichel has major risks as well at a much higher price tag.
Obviously, Eichel is the more talented player and with no other factors you build around him before Strome, but the production and skill aren’t so far apart that I would risk adding several other major pieces like Kappo, Schneider and high drafts in a deal to replace Strome with Eichel. Are the Rangers a better team with Zibenjad and Eichel down the middle than with Strome -absolutely, but it doesn’t add leadership, toughness, defensive responsibility, or help in the face off circle and that’s what the Rangers need down the middle the most. For the price of adding the elite skill Eichel provides in addition to the Skill the team already has in bunches I don’t think they are a better team. The cost at this price is just too high and there are much better fits than Eichel for the Rangers for equal or less value than this deal.
I’d rather target a Bo Horvat, Hintz, Kopitar, or even adding getzlaf for a season or two before I break the bank to add Eichel. The only thing making this plausible is James Dolan and that’s the scariest thing for Ranger fans.

49 points in 56 games. Simple math says that’s .875/1, That’s pretty close and actually a higher percentage than Eichel this year.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BuFfaLOFaN</b></div><div>Except you don't know what it's like to trade good players lol. No one of Eichels value has been traded in a long time.</div></div>
I think you are way overvaluing Eichel honestly. Yes, he’s considered a top young player and is paid as such (problem for the Sabres in trade value), but he’s definitely not a major value on the intangibles side and I’d be wary making him the centerpiece of your franchise, which is the value return you are expecting.
The Sabres have never had a winning season in his 5 years with the team and his line mates seem to regress playing with him instead of him elevating guys. He also isn’t known for doing the gritty little things on the boards and defensively to make plays, which when you combine the above to me suggests he’s not a leader and is perhaps just a skill guy. Then take into account that he’s not even a point per game player and I really start to question his value. Perhaps you can take a risk by thinking his talent is being hindered by the Sabres organization, but he was also like this at BU on loaded teams that came up short when the chips were down. Some team might take that risk still and the 10 million salary, but the big whopper is that he also has major durability concerns as well and wants out of the organization so that is going to limit his value to everyone but Sabres fans.
Lucky for you the Rangers are stupid enough to still trade for him and overpay because of james Dolan and maybe Drury/Quinn BU connections , but outside of maybe swapping Kratsov for buchnevich this is the best deal you will probably get in terms of multiple assets, unless you want to start taking about Zib with one to two more assets included and I doubt the Rangers go that direction.
He’s a the best player your organization has seen in a while and I get the attachment and frustration, but he’s definitely not on a level of McDavid, McKinnon, Mathews, Young Crosby, or even Barkov or you wouldn’t be in this place even with ****ty management. You could also validly argue that Gretzky didn’t fetch this big of a return when he was traded to the Kings since McSorely was also involved, but I agree that it’s not an apples to apples comparison.

Greatest USA Line Up
The only chance USA has is to form the team like the 1980 Olympic team, which means guys that are fast, extremely well conditioned, and that attack. I have concerns with Tkachuk and Hull as players that don’t fit that mold, but they are too good to take off the roster and their love of the country/game can’t be questioned.
First off Richter has to be the starting goalie, as he can make the big save and stood on his head for many years as the Rangers sent 4 and sometimes all 5 men to the net. Brimsek was an icon and great ambassador for the game, but the guy was tiny for a goalie at 5’9” and just couldn’t compete in a best on best tournament in the modern equivalency era with how guys shoot and pass the puck now.
I like the grit on your roster, but not the speed. For that reason Langenbruner, Weight,, and Stevens were replaced by modern guys with tons of speed and the size to match, The real surprise of the forward group is Ryan Kessler, who as at his best can skate like the wind for a big body, is a shut down defender, and can provide offense. Same bodes for Wheeler, while Pavelski is just a gamer.
The major flaw for the American team
Is on defense: Leetch, Chelly, and Housley are strong, but then the talent falls off a cliff compared to the Canadians. For that reason I have to bank on current players as I believe the American talent bar has been raised to its highest level at present.
My lineup:
Kane Madano Hull
Mathews Roenick LaFontaine
Tkachuk Pavelski Mullen
LeClare Kesler Wheeler
Leetch Chelios
Housley Seth Jones
Ryan Suter Charlie McAvoy
Richter

Trouba wants 7.5-8, Rangers want 6.5 to 7. I think the Rangers get the benefit in arbitration as Trouba only has one year of over 35 points and half a season playing top pair minutes. Arbitration doesn’t usually reward potential, where Trouba has the most value. Rangers get it done between 7-7.25 just prior to arbitration with a good signing bonus, offering a full no trade clause, and some kind of endorsement deals/connections for his wife in the medical field.

Finishing an Incredible Offseason
I like the Kreider trade even though I would prefer to keep him.
Don’t like giving up on Lias and his potential in the middle for another redundant winger with high skill, especially with Tolvanen in the fold.
Would rather buy out Smith than that price to deal him.
Nemestikov deal makes the most sense and buying out Smith on top of it, clears the cap space we need.
