If you plan on playing kerfoot as a C in a defensive roll...no, and you’re in for a bad time

Actualkuly heard he was good both ways. Nonetheless, Tavares plays top lines.

Yes this team can beat the bruins, will it? Who knows. To say that Boston and Toronto aren’t evenly matched teams would be silly.

They may not make the playoffs!

With no cap space it makes it harded to get a player at the dead line to push them over the top.

Hes not a Defensive C, despite what the interpretations are from the Fancy Stats community, that isn't who he is as a player. He's a pass first Winger, not a shot generating defensive C that he's assumed to be based on the shot metrics he has had the past 2 years

In one sentence you say "fancy stats" and then you mention shot metrics in another...I guess call em fancy stats when they don't work for you, otherwise spew away with shot metrics. Lol

I said Fancy Stats community, I didn't call them Fancy Stats. When I did mention anything it was shot metrics, since it says he is a shot generating C....which is the opposite playing style that he actually is. What are you trying to fake a narrative about this time?

Im not framing anything. Kerfoot is a good player, hut he is suited for the Wing. Its Leafs fans who are saying he could be Kadri 2.0. If he plays 3C and you expect him to replace Kadri, you are going to be disappointed.

As neutral zone puck carrier, he really pushes the pace and carries the zone....defensively without the puck in the defensive end, hes an adventure

Funny how that works huh?
Before the trade, Kadri couldn't fetch what ended up being. And now the Leafs are going to miss his offense.
Every fanbase has people who overvalue their players but a few do get it right. Some of those few even are on capfriendly.
It's not special to the Leafs fanbase.

From the Fancy Stats twitter community, @SteveBurtch tweeted out that Kerfoot is exceptional defensively, Selke level and would be the best Defensive forward the leafs have currently
https://twitter.com/SteveBurtch/status/1145837764132446214

That is where the danger comes from this....raw data doesn't paint the full picture of the player and I think he jumped to conclusion on that one which got the rest of Leafs nation on board with this thought. As good as Kadri defensively, puts up the same offensive numbers but cheaper and younger...thats a home run but not really bc its not exactly true. I like Kerfoot but hes a LW to get the most out of him, especially int he Top 6. In context in the games remiaiing after the TDL as a C he was 1 point in 12 games in a 2nd and 3rd line roll. When put on the LW on the top line he had 8 points in 10 games to finish the season.

He won't do what he did as a pure 3C, still very versatile player but he wont replace Kadri straight up. Its like the Cody Franson saga and advance stats based on some guys model as an elite Top pairing Dman, but in reality what their models shown for him and what he could do as a player did not align
