MTL clear winner here, EDM biggest loser as Kreider is a pending UFA and very unlikely to re-sign there.

      Kreider wouldn't sign it.

Also RNH as a player is better. Can play either C or wing and scores more. They'd lose anyway.

To play w McDaniel if I were Kreider I would take a 2-3 year deal and score 45 goals and sign a huge deal when that contract is over

So what? You can't really increase the value of your asset with the assumption that he'd be so good playing with McDavid, when that is true with literally every single player in this league. Draisaitl, who isn't considered as a goal scorer or sniper, had 50 goals with him last year. Not taking the credit from him, he had a stellar season anyway, but still playing with McDavid did have an effect to his numbers.

Even if Kreider re-signed, it still doesn't remove the fact that RNH is better and they'd still lose the trade.

Rather have the guy who averaged 50 points his first 3 NHL seasons , still under 25 and yet to hit his Prime

dont get why so many slow habs fans resort to trading him when its clearly UFA's like Petry , Tatar , Danault and evan Gallagher likely going in the next 2 seasons depending on how much Domi cost us after the whole offer sheet debacle expect us to pay a lot .

'' o no , we'd never get rid of those UFA's blah blah , cry cry , snivel snivel ''

option 1 , keep UFA's and lose Domi , Poehling or Kotkanemi (maybe multiple) or worse end up paying Domi 8.5 ,Poehling 8.5 and Kotkanemi 8.5 million .

option 2 pay Gallagher and Domi matching team friendly deals early , Poehling and Kotkanemi matching team friendly bridge deals 3 years . (even then its tight cap wise.)
keeping Tatar,Danault , Petry and even Byron till 2022 isnt realistic. they'll get moved for picks and prospects .

moving guys like Drouin who will break out at a great cap long term just makes the opposite of Sense .
Drouin's a guy you wanna build up and playing with a big skilled Center like Poehling will do that Mark My Words.

If the price for Danault is a 2nd round pick, Montreal hangs up the phone. That's a joke of an offer for Danault.

But no, you're right, give Danault away for essentially nothing... It's clear you know nothing about Danault. Its a bad trade. The worst one there.

Don’t judge a player off one season. Danault played in the top 6. Vesey was occasionally out on the 4th line

Playing on the 4th line isn't an excuse, its because he is just not that good.

      Vesey - RW - Age 26 - $2.2M 1 year
      2018-19 17g 35p
      2017-18 17g 28p
      2016-17 16g 27p

      Danault - C - Age 26 - $3M 2 years
      2018-19 12g 53p
      2017-18 8g 25p (52 games, 40p pace)
      2016-17 13g 40p

I really think you are wrong on this one... I don't expect you to know other teams players, but I do expect people to admit when they are wrong when presented with facts... Danault's main strength isn't even his production, its his great shut down game. It's a bad trade, plain and simple.

Ik he’s slightly better. That’s why he went for a 2nd instead of a third. Similar players, to move up 31 spots in the draft. What do u think he’s worth

I don't think Montreal has any intention to trade him. He is far superior to Marcus Johansson, cheaper than the deal you gave Johansson, has none of the injury concerns, and is a natural center who is far better defensively. So even in this scenario there is no reason to trade him. Montreal wouldn't trade him for anything less than a top 15 pick or B prospect + 2nd. Or if he is involved in a deal for a LHD that can play with Weber.

Yes I am. Which is why I understand how good Danault is. Otherwise I would be giving him away and suggesting signing a player that would be a big downgrade.

Overall, that's a terrible argument you are trying to make. Saying that I am only defending a player because I am a fan of the team. As a fan of the team I should want whatever makes the team better right? If trading Danault for a pick and signing Johansson makes the team better, shouldn't I be all for that? Problem is, its a terrible idea.
